The electrochemical behaviors of - and -phase samples were studied by using hydrogen uranyl phosphate as an electrolyte. The results were used to deduce the room-temperature diffusivity of H+. The values for the - and -phases were 9.6 x 10-10 and 2.2 x 10-9cm2/s, respectively. It was concluded that the -phase was a much better protonic conductor than the  phase.
