The electrical properties of the fluorite-type phase, Y0.8Ta0.2O1.70.3, were studied. At O partial pressures of between 10-4 and 10-21atm, it exhibited an ionic conductivity which was attributed to the diffusion of O ions through O vacancies. The conductivity at 1000C was 0.00062S/cm.
