A new method for the determination of ionic diffusion coefficients and activation energies was proposed. It was based upon the use of quasi-elastic light scattering. It was found that the temperature-dependence curve of the quasi-elastic light-scattering intensity at a given frequency could be fitted closely by using Jonscher's formula. In this way, the diffusion parameters could be obtained. The method could be applied to both optical-quality and opaque crystals.
