Electrolytes of the form, ZrO2-xSc2O3, where x ranged from 3.5 to 40mol%, were investigated by performing electrochemical impedance measurements at frequencies ranging from 0.1 to 500kHz. A rhombohedral-cubic phase transition, and a change in the activation energy for volume conduction, was found to exist. The effect of grain-boundary resistance upon the overall conductivity was determined, and the activation energies for grain volume conduction were measured (table 149).
