An investigation was made of the diffusion of electrolytic H in pure Fe at 25C. The diffusion coefficients which were determined under polarization conditions increased linearly with over-potential over a narrow over-potential range. This was suggested to represent conditions of enhanced chemical diffusion. From the mobility and intrinsic diffusion constant at very low over-potentials, the effective charge of the diffusing species was deduced to be 0.26e.
