A model was developed for the conductivity of acceptor-doped oxides which involved an association between acceptor-dopants and O-vacancies which resulted in donor centres. The model related the behaviour of the conductivity to the temperature, ambient atmosphere and band structure. The predictions of the model were compared with experimental data on ZrO2-16%Y and SrCeO3-5%Yb O conductors.
