Proton diffusion was detected in Y-doped SrZr0.95Y0.05O3 ceramics, at temperatures above 500C, by means of quasi-elastic neutron scattering. The linewidth of the quasi-elastic component varied with energy transfer and temperature. The temperature dependence was well explained in terms of thermal activation-type proton migration, with an activation energy of 0.2eV. The observed hopping distance was 0.17nm. This was comparable to one of the distances between 2 proton sites.
