It was recalled that 111In/Cd TDPAC techniques had long been used to study O vacancies in pure or lightly-doped zirconia powders at up to 1400C. New measurements revealed a negligible relaxation, due to vacancy hopping, above 600C. The technique constituted a major improvement in the ability to analyse PAC data and to determine accurately the hopping and trapping rates and enthalpies for vacancies in tetragonal zirconia.
