The pressure dependence of 60Co diffusivity was studied in structurally relaxed melt-spun amorphous material. The non-crystallinity of the samples, before and after high-pressure diffusion annealing, was checked by means of X-ray diffractometry. Radio-tracer and ion beam sputtering serial sectioning methods were used. The activation volume for diffusion was equal to -0.07 atomic volumes of Co. No significant pressure dependence was observed within experimental error. It was concluded that Co diffusion in this material was probably mediated by a collective mechanism.
