The tracer diffusivity of Co in amorphous samples was measured, as a function of pressure, for x-values of between 0.42 and 0.62 (table 126). It was concluded that the activation volume for diffusion in these alloys was between 8 x 10-30 and 2 x 10-29m3, and depended upon the alloy composition. The results were explained in terms of an interstitial-type diffusion mechanism for Co in amorphous Ni-Zr alloys.
