Possible dislocation reactions in face-centred icosahedral quasi-crystals were considered from geometrical and energetic points of view. Typical examples of reactions between dislocations with differing 2-fold Burgers vectors were confirmed experimentally in a plastically deformed icosahedral quasi-crystal by identifying the Burgers vectors of dislocations in triple-node arrangements. On the basis of the dislocation reactions, an experimentally observed increase in the relative number of dislocations which exhibited a larger phason part of the Burgers vector, with increasing plastic strain, could be explained.
