The microstructures of martensite structures were investigated by means of conventional and high-resolution electron microscopy. The details of micro-twin and macro-twin arrangements were considered. A correlation between the micro-twinning and the superstructure was confirmed, and atomic models were developed for twin interfaces, interface steps and twin tapering. It was noted that the micro-twins were (001) compound twins, while the macro-twins were (021) type-I twins. A spear arrangement, with a (¯332) mid-rib, was also observed.
