The ionic conductivity of these composite solid electrolyte systems was investigated by using complex impedance spectroscopy. It was found that more than an order of magnitude enhancement of the conductivity was obtained in the case of 70Ag2SO4-30LiNbO3, as compared with pure Ag2SO4. A surface charge-transfer mechanism was proposed in order to explain the microscopic conduction process. The highest conductivity obtained was equal to 1.8 x 10-3S/cm at 25C.
