The collective behavior of a system of straight parallel dislocations was investigated. Numerical simulations showed that the internal stress which was created by the dislocations had a stochastic component. In order to describe this feature, the form of the probability distribution function for the internal stress was determined. It was shown that the mean value of the distribution function was the self-consistent field that was created by the dislocation, and that the distribution function decayed as the reciprocal of the cube of the internal stress.
