It was noted that lattice models appeared to be useful for the description of the steady-state propagation of screw dislocations and of cracks (treated as pile-ups of screw dislocations). A solitary wave equation was therefore considered here which described the continuum limit of the Celli-Flytzanis lattice model for a screw dislocation.
