An investigation was made of the interdiffusion of cations in the MgO-FeO oxide system at temperatures of between 1473 and 1603K. Diffusion-couple experiments were carried out by using polycrystalline samples of the oxides. After heat-treatment, the concentration profiles were measured by means of energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. It was found that the data could be described by:
D (m2/s) = 1.29 x 10-5 exp[-152(kJ/mol)/RT]exp[-12.4xMg]
