The effect of mobile charged dislocations, in an ionic crystal, upon the scattering of electromagnetic radiation was studied. The cross-sections for radiation scattering were determined for various directions of the incident radiation. It was shown that the cross-sections depended upon the dislocation parameters and, in particular, upon the dislocation velocity. A relationship was derived which permitted the dislocation velocity in the scattering crystal to be determined from the intensity of the central maximum spot in the observed scattering pattern.
