A high-resolution transmission electron microscopic image, of a micro-crack which had been introduced into monocrystalline [110] samples by Vickers indentation at room temperature, was described. Two 60ยบ dislocations could be clearly seen at the tip of the crack which had generated them, while the surface of the crack had a stepped structure. This constituted new evidence for the occurrence of microplastic fracture in such materials.
