Materials of the form, Li1-xAlxTi2-x(PO4)3 (where x was 0 or 0.3), were prepared by using grinding and sol-gel techniques. The use of X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopic methods indicated that the addition of alumina did not modify the structure. It was found that the present materials were fast ionic conductors. The conductivity at 25C ranged from 10-5 to 10-4S/cm; depending upon the preparation process.
