Influence of Machining Process on Design Notch Performance
A number of machine parts have a design notch or component of notch pattern for the discharge of their own function. These notches form the following elements – longitudinal and cross grooves, necks, cross holes and other elements. A selected finishing method forms a surround of these components depending on the design requirements. A given machining method creates own notch on this machine part in similar way. Both the surface of notch surround and own notch accept at the machining the properties, which are given by the surface integrity. Next, these properties determine the use of surface and especially its durability and load capacity in final machinery. The production monitors choice elements of the surface integrity, primarily for the correct function of parts. Inappropriately used finishing method can notably influence life time as well as the function of a machine part.
