Abstract: This paper discusses the design and development of sulphidation resistant coatings. The first section discusses the rationale for designing and developing such coatings. The rationale for selecting the coating systems has been derived from our work on the HT sulphidation behaviour of MCrAlYX (M=Co, or Co-Fe and X=V, Nb, Mo and W) type of coating alloys. This work has allowed the establishment of the mechanisms of sulphidation and led to the choice of the coating systems discussed here. The second section describes the sulphidation performance of several selected coatings, single and multilayer, deposited on Ti, TiAl and Ni-based alloys at 750-850oC in environments of low oxygen and high sulphur potentials.

Abstract: The effect of pressures on microstructure and properties of as-deposited high silicon electrical steel by EB-PVD during hot pressing was studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the phase composition and morphology; the density and electrical resistivity were measured using the bottle method and four-probing method, respectively. It was found that the density increased from 7.25×103 kg/m3 to 7.5 ×103 kg/m3, while the electrical resistivity decreased from 85µΩ•cm to 75µΩ•cm with the increase of the pressure from 30 MPa to 60 MPa.

Abstract: Microstructure, hardness and mechanical properties of the 1Cr5Mo steel tubes for the coking furnace at super temperature were investigated in this paper. It revealed that under super-temperature, oxidation corrosion for the furnace tubes was strengthened, wall thickness was evident thinner, pearlite in microstructure was spheroidised mostly, strength would be decreased and marked degradation in material occurred.

Abstract: Nano copper /paraffin thermo sensitive composite was prepared by high energy milling and pressed into a glass cylindrical tube by using thermoforming process. Thermo sensitivity of the thermo sensitive composite was tested by thermo sensitivity tester which is developed by us. The composite particles with good cladding effects, prepared by high energy milling, arrange close together. Copper particles have no damage on the structures of paraffin. The thermal conductivity of thermo sensitive composite is enhanced with the increase of mass ratio of copper powder.

Abstract: The high-energy laser melts the cladding materials which coagulate onto the surface of the base materials. The laser cladding coatings are produced mainly in two methods: powder feeding and prefabricating. The grain-strengthening composite coatings could be formed more easily by prefabricating method than by powder feeding method. In this paper, Ni/SiC ceramic composite coating on carbon steel (45 steel) was made by prefabricating method. The microstructure and wear-resistance of Ni/SiC cladding coating on the 45 steel were studied using scanning electronic microscope (SEM) and wear test. The results showed that the microstructure of cladding coatings included bonding layer, thermo-affected layer and heat-affected layer after laser cladding. The microstructure of cladding coating was mainly of dendrite and cell-like crystals. The resultant multilayered coating had excellent adherence with the base steel. The addition of SiC particles into cladding coatings significantly reinforced the microhardness of laser cladding coating. Compared with Ni60A cladding coating, Ni60A/SiC cladding coating had high microhardness, which was attributed to not only the dispersion intensification effect of the SiC particle, but also by the new complicated phases. During laser cladding process, SiC particles may decompose and dissolve into the coating and result in solid solution strengthening effect which increases the microhardness of the composite coatings. The base material and Ni-based laser cladding coatings with and without SiC were tested to assess the wear-resistance property. The test results demonstrated that the laser cladding coatings had better wear resistance than the base material. Furthermore, the laser cladding coating with SiC particles had higher wear-resistance than the coating without SiC.

Abstract: The numerical simulations of mold filling and solidification process for the A380 aluminum alloy were done by the supposed mathematical model. The casting defects in the process of mold filling and solidification were predicted by the result of the casting simulation. The casting defects of simulation are well compared with the practice. Some measures presented were improved for the existing technological process.

Abstract: High silicon electrical steel prepared by EB-PVD was subjected to high temperature rapid thermal annealing and subsequent pack rolling. The phase composition and Fe configurations were characterized by X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The results show that the as-deposited, as-annealed and as-rolled samples mainly consist of DO3 ordering phase and the as-deposited electrical steel is composed of six kinds of Fe sites corresponding to 333.8KOe, 319KOe, 302 KOe, 284 KOe, 249 KOe, 196 KOe, respectively, while the Fe site corresponding to 196 KOe hasn’t been found in the other two samples. Moreover, the other two samples show a larger Fe site occupancy corresponding to 284 KOe.

Abstract: This paper introduces electroless plating Ni-Cr-P/Ni-P composite coating technologies and techniques on the Nd-Fe-B permanent magnet surface. It has got a Ni-Cr-P/Ni-P composite coating successfully on the Nd-Fe-B substrate surface through rational processing plan. The coating surfaces are bright and have low Porosity, good binding between the electroless plating and Nd-Fe-B matrix. The experimental results show that the composite coating prepared by Ni-Cr-P electroless plating (15min) and Ni-P acidic electroless plating (45min) has amorphous structure, simple process and better anticorrosion property in both alkaline and acidic medium.

Abstract: Solution polymerization method was used to prepare hydrophilic antifogging acrylate resin. By means of comparison, the optimum synthesis technology conditions was obtained that ethyl acrylate was used as soft monomer , methylcrylate was used as hard monomer. The best functional monomers was acrylic acid and methyl acrylic acid. The accessory functional monoer was β-hydroxyl ethyl acrylate. Cross-linking agent methylol acrylamide belongs to self-cross-linking system. Crosslinker was N-hydroxymethyl acrylamide.The quality rate of cross-linking agent and carboxylic acid is 4 to 1 .The resin can be cured perfectly at the temperature of 100°C in 40 min. The prepared acrylate resin had excellent water-solubility and antifogging.

Abstract: Magnesium alloys were treated by micro-arc oxidation at a constant applied current density. The friction and wear properties were investigated by optical microscope and universal friction and wear tester in 3.5%NaCl solution. The result reveals that the film formed by micro-arc oxidation enhances the corrosion resistance of the magnesium alloys. The Ecorr of micro-arc oxidation film improved 94mV than the Ecorr of magnesium alloys matrix. Wear resistance of the film was weakened in 3.5%NaCl solution. The wear mechanism of film depends on the load. Abrasive wear was predominant at low load. Peeling wear was predominant at high load, which result from damage of the film adhesion.
