Abstract: A coupled thermoelastic-plastic plane-strain finite element model is developed to study orthogonal cutting process with and without flank wear. The cutting process is simulated from the initial to the steady-state of cutting force and cutting temperature, by incrementally advancing the cutting tool forward. Automatic continuous remeshing is employed to achieve chip separation at the tool tip regime. The effect of the degree of the flank wear on the cutting forces and temperature fields is analyzed. With the flank wear increasing, the maximum cutting temperature values on the workpiece and cutting tool increase rapidly and the distribution of temperature changes greatly. The increase of tool flank wear produced slight increase in cutting forces but significant increase in thrust forces.

Abstract: Metal fiber manufactured by the methods nowadays available almost could not meet the new requirements any more due to the increasing demands for its properties as it is used more and more widely. In this paper, cutting by multi-tooth tool, a new method, which can bifurcate chip and simultaneously get many pieces of long stainless steel fiber with high tensile strength, good tenacity and corresponding diameter within 100μm even 50μm, is proposed. Tiny fins which induce crystal growth as nucleation in composites can form regularly at the edge of fiber under certain conditions. The fiber possesses unique advantages if it is used to filled, reinforced and porous materials because of its rough surface, fins, high tensile strength and good tenacity.

Abstract: The TRIZ theory of technology evolution is introduced and its limitations in new product development is assessed in this paper, Based on the multiple approaches evolution patterns of TRIZ Theory, a decision-making procedure model for new product development is proposed and a sample product is used to demonstrate how to use new model to the real developing procedure of a new product.
