Abstract: For further researching the structural characteristics of Orientated strand board (OSB) mat, a three-dimensional model was developed using computer-aided design (CAD) technology to simulate behaviors of individual strands in the mat-forming process. This model provided a more realistic description of the mat structure than the previous simulations in using varied strand geometry and different types of strand orientation, defining strand location, and solving the problem of edge effect. This model can be used to analyze the impact of strand orientation on the number of strand overlaps, and to identify the relationship of strand orientation and the horizontal voids distribution in the mat. Information provided by this model is the basis of further studying the effect of the mat formation on panel void characteristics, and the relationship of the voids volume to panel properties.

Abstract: With JC2000A Contact Angle Measuring Apparatus and established model of rice straw surface wetting, to improve the surface wetting properties of Rice Straw, effects of four kinds of alkali spray on Rice Straw at room temperature on contact angle was studied. The result shows that after alkali treatment the surface wettability of Rice Straw obtained significant improvement, contact angle decreases with the treatment time extended. The contact angle change rate reached the largest within 10min with the decreasing gradient of 20.64% when rice straw was dealt with NaNH2 at the mass fraction of 1%. Under the same conditions, rice straw processing with CaH2 has the minimum gradient contact angle change rate of 3.6%, A large number of Ca(OH)2 formation made The contact angle did not change significantly with time extended. Effect of NaOH treatment changed significantly over time, the optimum conditions of processing technology were obtained through orthogonal test: concentration of NaOH is 0.6%,solvent ratio 1:3.5 and reaction time 12h.

Abstract: This paper explored the effect of MDI, UF and FRW content on the mechanical and fire retardant property of straw based panels with surface alkali liquor processing. In order to manufacture the straw based panel with high quality, low toxic and fire retardant, the interface of wheat-straw was treated with alkaline liquid under the optimal treating condition: alkaline liquid concentration was 0.4-0.8%, alkaline dosage was 1:2.5-1:4.5, alkaline-treated time was 12h-48h.The physical and mechanical properties of wheat-straw boards after treated could satisfy the China national standard. And the variance analysis of the fire retardant property of straw based panel showed that TTI, pkHRR and peak value appearance time were not affected by the MDI, UF and FRW content significantly. The results of orthogonal test showed that the optimized processing condition was MDI content as 4%, UF resin content as 7% and the FRW content as 10%.

Abstract: Based on the notion of environment-friendly design, low-carbon production and sustainable economic development, this paper developed the dip aluminizing corrugated board furniture technology with the application of vacuum magnetron sputtering dip aluminizing. Hence it got the green material for corrugated board furniture and made it possible to produce the novel and amazing furniture to satisfy the great economic and social requirements. As the shortage of timber resources, all countries attach great importance to rational use of limited resources for furniture design and manufacturing. Corrugated board furniture have formed a new trend because it has the following features, replaced paper, green, raw materials economy, easy to process, product utility and so on. The dip aluminizing corrugated board furniture embodies green furniture ideas; has become a useful exploration of innovation and improvement, and actively promoting the development of furniture design and manufacture of green design.

Abstract: Inspired from the natural porous structure of wood, a novel wood-polymer composite combining both advantages of wood with high strength-to-weight ratio as a natural renewable resource and polymer as a reinforcer was manufactured by synthesis of terpolymer of methyl methacrylate (MMA), Styrene (St) and Vinyl Acetate (VAc) inside wood. The three kinds of monomers with a few of 2,2'- azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as an initiator, as well as some additives were first impregnated into wood porous structure under a pressure condition, and then initiated for terpolymerization through a catalyst-thermal treatment. The impregnating conditions containing pressure value and pressure time, and polymerizing crafts including heating temperature and heating time, as well as additive content were confirmed according to rate of monomer loading and rate of polymer loading inside wood. Results indicate that among these influencing factors, pressure and temperature were the significant influencing factors; and the rate of monomer loading and rate of polymer loading linearly positive correlated to them, respectively. SEM observation shows that the terpolymer fully filled in wood porous structure under the optimum manufacturing craft.

Abstract: The wheat straw was pretreated using heat-treatment and water action and then diversified flat weave experiments were performed. Effects of the technology of knitting (including machinery spinning method, sewing spelling method, weaving process of "picks one pressures one" and "picks two pressures two") on veneer material quality and technology of decorative facing was investigated. The results show that both of sewing spelling method and weaving process of "pick two pressure two" achieve better effect with close construction, level, nice appearance and simple to weave. Experiments for optimizing the technology were performed by using non-woven fabric as the laminated veneer materials, The optimal technical parameters when using non-woven fabric were as follows: MDI 1.5% and UF 8% with the dosage of 50-80g/m2; temperature of 85-105°C; pressure of 0.2-0.5 MPa; time of 25min(10 sheet at a time).

Abstract: The orthogonal theories were carried out to analyze the effect of MDI, UF and FRW content on the mechanical and fire retardant properties of rice-straw based boards in this paper. The interface alkaline treatment showed a significant effect on the surface bonding performance of rice- straw. The bonding property of rice-straw based boards increased with the increasing of resin content, especially for the effect of MDI content on MOR, MOE. The tendency of pkHRR decreased and the target for fire retardant realized by the FRW content increased. Based on analysis, the optimal technical parameters were obtained as MDI content 3%, UF content 6% and FRW fire retardant 10% separately.

Abstract: This article introduces the fractal theory and its applications in wood fracture、wood texture、wood drying 、wood defect nondestructive detecting and other fields in wood science researching, among which many researching results are characterised by fractal dimension. While the methods in other fields which fractal were used in their researches were refered , the writer attempts to apply them in wood science researches.At last the new viewpoints and its applications were proposed.

Abstract: A new kind of bio-based composite panel with veneer material and performance of decorative material was produced by process of dissection, staining, weaving and collage. The bio-based composite panel was instructed with art design using the wheat straw as raw material. The facing technology of the bio-based composite panel with wheat straw veneer material was investigated and no previous research using pretreated wheat straw to produce the veneer material with characteristic of decorative function. The bonding strength was measured and it reached 0.75 MPa. It is demonstrated that pretreated wheat straw can be used for furniture manufacturing and decorative applications directly.
