Abstract: Compound crumb rubber modified asphalt is a mixture of crumb rubber powder, SBS modifier and the matrix asphalt that has improved road pavement performances in resisting high temperature deformation and low temperature crack. The application of abandoned auto tire in road construction is significant in environment protection by reducing pollution caused by waster tires and in developing circular economy in China. Based on the experimental results of temperature sweep test for compound crumb rubber modified asphalt and contrast test of bending creep for compound crumb rubber modified asphalt mixture and SBS modified asphalt mixture, the temperature dependent properties of compound modified asphalt and its mixtures are studied. The compound crumb rubber modified asphalt is preferable in improving the pavement performance against fatigue and permanent deformation in both high and low temperatures.

Abstract: Compound crumb rubber modified asphalt (CCRMA) is a kind of compound modified asphalt. It is made from putting granulated crumb rubber (GCR) crashed from scrap tires and SBS modifier into matrix asphalt, though shearing by high speed shearing machine and growthing. It has good low temperature crack-resistant attributes, and better preventing high temperature distortion as well. The application of abandoned rubber tire is significant to cutting down on pollution,developing circular economy and protecting the environment. The microstructure of matrix asphalt and CCRMA is observed by SEM. Based on the results of temperature sweep test for CCRMA and uniaxial compression creep test for CCRMA mixture, the high-temperature characteristic of compound modified asphalt and mixture is studied. It is observed that, CCRMA has preferable anti-permanent deformation performance. CCRMA mixture has perferable anti-high temperature deformation performation. In the meantime, the viscous-elastic parameters of CCRMA mixture is obtained by fitting experimental data, it provides a referance for viscoelastic mechanics analyze of bituminous pavement.

Abstract: Compound Crumb Rubber Modified Asphalt (CCRMA) is a mixture of waste rubber tire powder, SBS modifier and asphalt in order to modify the characteristics of asphalt. The application of using crumb rubber powder in making CCRMA is important in improvement of working characteristics of asphalt as well as in pollution control and environment protection. CCRMA, crumb rubber particles, SBS modifier and base asphalt have been examined by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to observe the microcosmic appearance and the characteristic distribution of crumb rubber particles and SBS modifier in asphalt. The rotary viscometer test and dynamic shear test of CCRMA were carried out by rotational viscometer and Dynamic Shear Rheology (DSR). The influences of rubber powder content and reaction time to viscosity of CCRMA have been studied. In the stage of current study, complex modulus and phase angle of CCRMA are parameters reflecting viscoelasticity, the relation between them and temperature are researched.

Abstract: In order to evaluate the shear performance of the rubber powder modified asphalt mixture, we do the triaxial test of Asphalt-Rubber mixture at specified temperature, which use the United States GCTS STX-100 two-way vibration triaxial test system. Through the result of the test, we analysis the factors affecting the shear resistance of asphalt mixture such as modification agent,confining pressure, gradation type and also get the mechanical properties of the asphalt mixture in the triaxial stress state.
