Abstract: High-speed machining puts forward higher requirements not only for tools and fixtures, but also for the tool path patterns with the development of manufacturing. The focus is on analyzing different characteristics of tool path patterns, and influencing factors of choice in milling curvature-mutated surface. Then a reasonable choice is presented on the principle of tool path patterns. According to surface features, milling characteristics and programming requirements, the surface with the curvature changing seriously is subdivided into two patches, thus the subdivision surfaces are roughing machining. Finally, Powermill is used to verify further its feasibility.

Abstract: This paper proposes a new approach to modeling the cutting force, based on friction behavior on tool-chip interface in precision hard turning. The modeling touches on such researches as into experimental relationship between cutting force and cutting load on tool-chip friction interface, equivalent transformation of radius cutting edge, transformation between orthogonal cutting and 3D cutting, and calculating cutting force coefficient. The model has realized the transformation from orthogonal cutting to oblique cutting, then to 3D cutting, which can make calculation results of all parameters in orthogonal cutting model transplant into complex 3D cutting. The experiments indicate accuracy and effectiveness of the cutting force prediction model

Abstract: In this paper, a cutting force model in ball end milling of mold cavity corner is established. Based on infinitesimal milling force model, cutting element of ball end milling cutter is treated as equal diameter end milling cutter, then determine the location of points when the micro-element participated in the cutting, and the tool-workpiece contact area and cutting range is determined. Thereby a complete milling force model in corner machining with ball end milling cutter is established.

Abstract: UG template model-based parametric design method plays an important role in improving face milling cutter design efficiency and ensuring design accuracy. Three kinds of parameter design method are described in this paper. Parametric design of series for face milling cutters is completed with UG software and UG template model, moreover, user menu and an interactive window are customized, which improves design efficiency and accuracy of face milling cutter. Meanwhile, this study can provide reference for more model design and functional development.

Abstract: In cavity die corner-machining, tool flexible deformation caused by the milling force resulting in the surface error, a method of off-line error compensation is put forward. Instantaneous chip thickness model and the corner milling force model is established based on differential and the characteristics of the corner. Combining the theory of cantilever beam and the finite element analysis, cutting tool elastic deformation model is established.

Abstract: Milling forces simulation is a critical part in the NC processing simulation system, unstable milling forces not only affect tool life, but also can reduce the surface machining quality. Based on the existing milling forces model of ball end mill, this paper establishes a milling forces simulation system which makes seamless integration of geometric simulation and physics simulation come true on UG platform with Matlab and VC++ mixed programming technique.

Abstract: UG Open/Grip and Open/API hybrid programming approach allows accurate modeling of copy milling cutters, avoiding modeling in the software caused by inefficient and poor accuracy flaws. This paper uses all parameters design of UG-based hybrid programming, forming a series of three-dimensional entity of copy milling cutters rapidly by modifying the basic parameters of the copy milling cutters, which can greatly improve the design efficiency of a series copy milling cutters.
