Abstract: As to demonstrate the effect of treatment temperature on hemp fibre, this article recorded and compared the change of supramolecular structure and properties of hemp fibre under different processing temperature (150°C and -30°C). The result shows: the change of processing temperature can affect the crystallinity of hemp fibre, with the rise of treatment time, the crystallinity of fiber increases at high temperature and is contrary at low temperature. Meantime, the degree of thermodynamic change is higher at low processing temperature than that of high temperature. Furthermore, with the rise of treatment time, the moisture regain of fibre fluctuates under high temperature and rises under low temperature.

Abstract: This paper used X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to determine the crystallinity of hemp fiber. The results show that the order of crystallinity is Segal method > Peak deconvolution method > Newman method > Infrared spectroscopy method. Both empirical formula and peak deconvolution method lead to deviation of crystallinity value. However, there is a less inaccuracy in peak deconvolution than empirical formula and could get detailed crystal parameters. Therefore, peak deconvolution method is more suitable than empirical formula for determination of crystallinity of hemp fiber.

Abstract: Liquid ammonia treatment can improve the properties of a hemp fiber and widen its application in textiles. This study investigated the effects of different ways of NH3 removal on the fine structure and properties of hemp fibers, including thermal property and dyeing behaviour. It was found that, of the three ways of ammonia removal, removal of ammonia with glacial acetic acid resulted in the highest transition of cellulose Ⅰinto cellulose Ⅲ and removal ammonia with water resulted in the lowest transition of cellulose Ⅰinto cellulose Ⅲ. Removal of ammonia with water also resulted in better thermal stability and higher dye uptake than the other ways of ammonia removal. Of the three ways of ammonia removal, removal of ammonia by evaporation resulted in the lowest dye uptake.

Abstract: MWCNT/Ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (MWCNT/UHMWPE) composite was prepared by adding purified MWCNTs into the precursor solution of UHMWPE. Based on that, MWCNT/UHMWPE fibers were obtained using a gel spinning-molding technique. The thermal, mechanical and aggregation structure of MWCNT/UHMWPE fibers were characterized by TGA, mechanical property measurement and XRD, respectively. The results indicated the incorporation of MWCNTs into UHMWPE macromolecular chains have not change the aggregation structure of UHMWPE significantly, and the as-prepared MWCNT/UHMWPE fibers have evidently improved thermal stability and mechanical strength compared with the pristine UHMWPE fibers.

Abstract: This paper has studied the structure and property of high tenacity polyamide 6 upon different draw ratios and heat styling temperature process conditions, characterized with wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), sound velocity method, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, amino-terminated content determination and essential property texts such as the absorption of moisture and dyeing. It was demonstrated that increasing the draw ratio (DR) and heat styling temperature were conducive to crystal-to-crystal transformation and stabilizing the internal structure of fibers. The temperature played a significant role in orientation of high tenacity polyamide 6, particularly subjected to a higher heat styling temperature, owing to its thermo plasticity. And increasing the draw ratio and heat styling temperature were both conducive to the tensile property, but little beneficial impact on moisture property. The high tenacity polyamide 6 exert a good effect on absorption of moisture and acid dye, and for dyeing the effects of hydrogen-bond as well as the van der Waals’ force play a significant role in dye pickup, especially in the high tenacity polyamide 6 upon different draw ratios.

Abstract: To explore the effect of multi-antibacterial powders on the polyamide fibers, we analyzed the structure and properties of the polyamide fibers in this paper, which have features of antibacterial, far-infrared emission and negative oxygen ions emission. The effects of adding multi-antibacterial power were tested by Scanning Electron Microscopy and spectrum tests, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis and infrared spectroscopy. Our data indicated that multi-antibacterial polyamide fibers have excellent antibacterial effect, good far-infrared emission and the negative oxygen ions emission features, while have little affect on polyamide fibers’ structure properties.

Abstract: In view of the discrimination difficulty of bast fiber in the market, the optical microscope and SEM were used to distinguish the breed of bast fiber. The results showed that bast fiber can be distinguished from diverse fibers by optical microscope, and then the specific breed of bast fiber can be distinguished by SEM.

Abstract: In view of the unique porous structure of hemp stem, the comparison experiments were implemented on adsorption properties of hemp stem powder and Abies holophylla Maxim powder to formaldehyde, benzene and TVOC. In addition, on the basis of preliminary study on solid-gas adsorption kinetics of hemp stem, applicability of several adsorption theories was analyzed versus solid-gas adsorption. The results showed that the unique structure endowed hemp stem better adsorption properties than Abies holophylla Maxim’s. However, for different adsorbents, the adsorption kinetics characters differed obviously. Bangham and Langmuir adsorption rate equation fitted the gas-solid adsorption kinetics of hemp stem to some extent, and Langmuir’s could present its absorption to TVOC much better.

Abstract: Based on the thermal stability test on the different fire resistance materials, this article study the Thermal protection property (TPP) of the different materials composite structure and analyses the effect that the materials changes on the TPP of the composite structure products. The results indicate that the thermal insulation batts made by Aramid fiber materials have excellent thermal stability, adding a certain percentage of Aramid fiber 1414 into the thermal insulation batts makes for the batts having stably insulation function, and it only needs 10% around additive amount to satisfy this demand, compared with polyimide and PPS, Aramid fiber 1414 have better thermal stability when encountered fire.

Abstract: Firefighter uniform made of various flame retardant materials is put as the object. Analyzing the thermal protective performance of different composite structures covering outer fabrics, lagging materials and comfortable layer materials, discuss the best combination of supporting structures. Adoption flash fire simulation, verify the integrated prevention ability of firefighter uniform. The matching of different levels has a significant impact on the thermal protective performance, first the outer layer, then comfortable layer and thermal protective coating. Although inherent fire resistant fiber for the main material of the outer fabric has better durability and thermal protective performance, the fire might experience obvious contraction which leads to embrittlements. For insulation flocculus, the ratio of aramid fiber 1313 and aramid fiber 1414 at 9:1 has excellent thermal insulation. For comfortable layer, inherent fire resistant fiber has no notable effect on the clothing’s overall thermal protection performance; the polysulfonamide fiber is a relative better choice.
