Abstract: In this research, the core-shell structured fiber was fabricated by coaxial electrospinning technique. A set of biodegradable polymers namely polylactic acid (PLA) and cellulose acetate (CA) were used as the shell material. Gentamicin sulfate (GS) as antimicrobial drug with polyethylene glycol (PEG) was used as the core structure. PEG formed the core section of the coreshell fibers for GS encapsulation. In-vitro drug release activity of the core-shell fibers was determined by total immersion method in pH 7.4 phosphate buffer solutions (PBS). It was found that core-shell fibers sPLA-cPEG/GS exhibit higher initial release compared to that of core-shell fibers sPLA/CA-cPEG/GS.

Abstract: Electrospinning is a straightforward and low cost method for producing carbon nanofiber (CNF) webs that have interrelated pores with high surface area. The process begins with electrospinning of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) on a Cu target collector. In current production methods, the PAN nanofiber web is taken off from the collector. But in order to omit extra stages of taking off the web from a conductive collector and later putting it back on, we will try to keep the web remained on the Cu collector plate through the carbonizing heat treatment and the electrodeposition, to later use the plate as the current collector of a LIB anode. This facilitates the handling of CNFs throughout the entire process that is now much more suitable for commercialization. This unique structure is very suitable for anode materials (AMs) of Lithium Ion Batteries (LIBs). It improves the kinetics of charge/discharge cycles by reducing lithium transport paths, and creates more stable electrochemical performance by providing space for volume expansions of lithium insertions in charging cycles. CNF webs can be used as AMs, demonstrating these advantages over conventional carbonaceous materials that have long been used as the preferred choice-in spite of having a comparatively low theoretical capacity. In this study we use the CNF web as a template for electrodepositing Sn-Sb alloy, to create the mentioned structural characteristics in a coated layer of an alloy with a higher capacity. The resulting composite is shown to have a higher capacity than the substrate CNF and a good cycling performance.

Abstract: Electrospinning is an advanced manufacturing technology combined with machinery, automatic control and computing technology, it is popular used in numbers of fields and has appealed the attention of a great many scholars in and aboard, and its controllable ability has become the fuscous point. In order to make seize of the fiber diameter and realize the collection aligned, this paper designed a new device basing on the analysis of the influence elements during the electrospinning experiment in the direction of process control to achieve effectively organization on these parameters. What’s more, the writer showed not only the mechanical structure, but also the corresponding system design, focusing on the plan of coordination multi-axis motion with movement control CARDS. After all, this device is able to complete the effective coordination of spray distance and the target velocity, and improves the manage ability of the whole device operation.

Abstract: Fullerene reinforced electrospun cellulose Acetate(CA) nano fibers based composite dry-type actuators were newly developed. Morphology of the electro spun fibers showed good dispersion of the fullerene within the nano fibers whereas XRD studies slight increase in crystallinity. FTIR spectra showed interactions between the hydroxyl moieties of fullerene with cellulose. Stress-strain curves showed substantial increase in tensile strength even with minute concentrations of filler. Our results show nearly three fold increase in tip displacement even with 0.5 wt% fullerenes under both AC and DC conditions. The efficiency of the actuators was also calculated from current-voltage diagrams.

Abstract: In this paper, we presented a novel system of electrospinning to directly prepare fibrous meshes with micro/nanoparticles. Acetate cellulose (CA) as the material of micro/nanoparticles was dissolved in the mixture of acetone and dichloromethane as well as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was dissolved into deionized water, respectively. We successfully fabricated CA microspheres by an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion/solvent evaporation technique, instilling CA solution into the stirring PVA aqueous solution. Then the hybrid solution was fabricated into a fibrous mat through electrospinning. CA micro/nanoparticles were wrapped in PVA fibers which indicated that the hybrid system of electrospinning had great potential in biomedicine when combing biodegradable microspheres with drugs.

Abstract: In this paper, we reported an approach to fabricate PAN/β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) composite nanofibre with copper nanoparticles (NPs) grown on the surface by the simple electrospinning process. In the experiment, electrospinning method, soaking and adsorption method, together with reduction method were used to achieve the aim of coating. The final product was characterized using scanning electronic microscope (SEM), and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).

Abstract: A simple way of producing nanoTiO2 on fiber polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) has been done using solution anatase TiO2 micro powder as a solution for electro spinner machine. The process relies upon the mixing of TiO2 and PVA in deionized water before converted it into fiber. The result shows that before and after heat treatment at 300°C, the electrospinning process are able to carry 60% TiO2 in the anatase phase and to reduce the fiber size and carry the crystalline in nanosize showing a potential way of making fiber carrying nanocrystalline anatase.

Abstract: Cellulose acetate (CA) nanofibers were electrospun in trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) under various conditions of concentration, voltage and dope flow rate while tip to collector distance (TCD) kept constant. Results showed that concentrations lower than 8 wt. % could only be electrospun at low flow rates. Bead free fibers were easily electrospun from higher CA concentrations 13 wt. % to 15 wt. %. Concentrations greater than 15 wt. % formed a viscous solution that could not be uniformly dispersed, thus impeding electrospinning. Medium voltage 20KV was found to produce good fibers while flow rates of 0.5ml/h and above, produced non-uniform fibers with a wide range. Average fiber diameters of 104nm and 129nm were formed at 13 wt. % and 15 wt. % (0.4ml/h, 20KV) respectively.

Abstract: The demand for novel antibiotic-loaded electrospun nanofibrous structures has increased extremely in the recent years and has engaged the interests of scientists and engineers into a blend configuration of antibiotic drug and biocompatible polymers due to their unique applications in future of better therapeutic effect, reduced toxicity and sustained local antibiotic release over a period of time. One method to produce these antibiotic-loaded networks is by electrospinning process. However, it is very important to know structural characteristics and morphology of nanofibers for controlling the performance of the yields. In this paper, fabrication of electrospun nanofibers suited for antibiotic delivery system is investigated based on tetracycline hydrochloride as the antibiotic drug and poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) as the biodegradable polymeric matrix. Furthermore, the effect of material and process parameters on morphology and release behavior of produced nonwovens is investigated. The efficacy of the medicated scaffolds using a static system for bacterial growth on agar plates was also proved.

Abstract: Silver-coated PAN nanofibers have been prepared by a facile method that combined the electrospinning technique and electroless plating method. Dopamine was used to functionalize the surface of electrospun PAN nanofibers to form the chemisorption sites in order to assist electroless plating of silver. SEM and ATR-FITR results indicated that poly(dopamine) has been successfully deposited on the surface of PAN nanofibers. XRD and SEM results also showed that face-centred cubic (fcc) crystal Ag nanoparticles with uniform size were well coated on the surface of electrospun PAN fibers.
