Abstract: A three-dimensional finite element model and an experimental model of a reservoir spillway tunnel are used to analyze the flow velocity changes. The basic numerical simulation theory and the experimental theory and method are firstly introduced. The water characteristic is obtained such as velocity, water surface curve, jet trajectory length, water pressure, etc. The water jet is Z shaped. The velocity, pressure and water flow of the whole spillway are gotten in Ansys software. The velocity measured in the test and the data computed with software are compared. The experimental results are agreement with the numerical results. The analysis and experimental progress and results show that the numerical model and the test method are feasible and well-suited for using in actual design problems.

Abstract: The present paper is concerned with an experimental research and numerical modelling of the viscoelastic-viscoplastic-damage behaviour of bovine cortical bone. A one-dimensional constitutive model is proposed to predict the experimental behaviour under creep-recovery load conditions. The material parameters are determined by fitting experimental results. The derived algorithm for the integration of the proposed constitutive model is implemented into finite element formulation. The computational algorithm shows an excellent capability to describe the tensile behaviour of bovine cortical bone for the specific mechanical conditions analyzed.

Abstract: As a typical difficult-to-cut material, the nickel-based superalloy GH4169 has been used in many kinds of aeronautical key structures and turbine components because of its high yield stress and anti-fatigue performance even in high temperature. In this paper, finite element method (FEM) is introduced to study the saw-tooth chip formation in detail. By the way of Lagrange approach, adiabatic shear band (ASB) is simulated and the chip forming mechanism is interpreted by adiabatic shearing theory via the comparison of two models, one of which has a failure criterion and another not. The comprehensive comparison and analysis of chip morphology between simulation and experiment are also presented in this paper.

Abstract: The nickel-based superalloy GH80A has been widely used in kinds of aeronautical key structures because of its high yield stress and anti-fatigue performance at high temperature. However, it is also a typical difficult-to-cut material. In order to improve cutting process, kinds of methods have been applied to study cutting process including experimental approach and finite element method (FEM). In this paper, a comparison of chip formation is carried out between traditional Johnson-Cook (JC) model and Isotropic model. Besides, effects of tool rake angle and friction coefficient on chip formation are investigated by Isotropic model. FEM predicated results such as stress and cutting temperature are also analyzed. Relative turning tests are performed and comparison of chip morphology between FEM and experiment is carried out.

Abstract: The nickel-based superalloy GH80A is a typical difficult-to-cut material. It has been used in a good many kinds of aeronautical key structures because of its high yield stress and anti-fatigue performance at high temperature. But selection of cutting parameters in actual machining process mainly depends on experience and lacks of scientific utterance. In this paper, finite element method (FEM) was introduced to study the chip formation process when machining nickel-based superalloy GH80A. By the way of lagrangian finite element approach and material failure, adiabatic shear band (ASB) and periodic fracture were simulated with the help of former researchers’ studies on the material constitutive relation. Both the mechanism of adiabatic shearing phenomenon at primary shear zone and periodic crack in the free surface were analyzed, chip formations under different cutting parameters were got and compared carefully. The root cause of saw-tooth chip formation under different cutting speeds was discussed.

Abstract: A new structure magnetorheological brake (MR brake) with three effective areas was designed, two end surfaces and the cylindrical surface of the rotor work as effective areas, then the effective area was increased with the same volume of the rotor. Finite element model of the MR brake was built, the electromagnetic field analysis was performed, then magnetic field quantities of the damper model were got. With the results of the magnetic analysis and the relation between the yield stress and the magnetic field strength of the magnetorheological fluid (MR fluid), the performance simulation of the magnetorheological damper was realized. According to the requirements of the gait rehabilitation robot to the yield torque of the MR brake, the current driver was designed. On these bases, the mechanical performance test system of the MR brake were developed, the mechanical performance of the brake was researched used the test system, the brake’s properties: torque vs. speed and yield torque vs. current were obtained.

Abstract: The features and require of tradition hammer type straw knead machine, one kind new-type cutter of applying to straw knead machine was designed. The cutter of using zigzag longitudinal knife and dovetail zigzag cross knife, able to finish crops straw longitudinal knead and transverse cutting at once. Application of the new cutter, water and sugar lose significantly reduced in the knead straw, and working efficiency was reasonably well. Field experiments show that using this new tool knead moisture content 56% corn straw ,the moisture and sugar content of material were 50% and 10% respectively after kneading, productivity was1.9t, the length of straw material was 3~6mm.

Abstract: The mechanical behavior of plastic material is dramatically sensitive to temperature. An method is proposed to predict the mechanical behavior of plastics for cars, ranging from low-temperature low temperature ≤-40°C to high temperature ≥80°C. It dominates the behavior of plastic material based on improved constitutive model in which the parameters adjusted by a series of tests under different temperatures. The method is validated with test and establishes the basis for research and development of plastic parts for automobile as well.
