Abstract: This paper presents the fuzzy logic controller for shunt active power filter used to compensate harmonic distortion in a three-phase system. The shunt active filter employs a simple method for estimating the reference compensation current. A fuzzy logic based current control strategy is used to regulate the filter current and hence ensure harmonic free supply current. Classic filters may not have satisfactory performance in fast varying conditions. However, an auto-tuned active power filter gives better results for harmonic minimization and power factor improvement. The proposed fuzzy based shunt active filter maintains the THD well within IEEE-519 standards. The validity of the presented approach in harmonic mitigation is verified by simulation results in MATLAB/ Simulink and hardware prototype.

Abstract: This research is study of the air conditioning by used fuzzy logic control to analysis. It will take into account the energy savings and the room temperature remained in range of comfort zone for the resident's satisfaction. To control % AC compressor and fan speed. The system was simulated and designed simulation model of fuzzy logic controlled on Matlab program to monitor energy consumption and temperature of the room. The results indicate that thermal comfort of the room together with energy saving can be obtained through fuzzy logic controlled .At a temperature setting of 25 °C and defined heat load in the room, the energy saving for the system is calculated to 30.77 % for fuzzy controllers when compared with on-off condition.

Abstract: In this paper, a finite element model of piezolaminated composite shell structure is developed using nine-noded degenerated shell element. The stiffness, mass and thermo-electro-mechanical coupling effect is incorporated in finite element modeling using first order shear deformation theory and linear piezoelectric theory. The sensor voltage is calculated using the same formulation and fuzzy logic controller is used to calculate the actuator voltage. The fuzzy logic controller is designed as double input-single output (DISO) system using 49 If-Then rules. The performance of fuzzy logic controller is compared with convention constant-gain negative feedback controller. The simulation results illustrate the superiority of fuzzy logic controller over constant-gain negative feedback controller.

Abstract: Active control of vibration has been the subject of a lot of research in recent years. This study presents a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) to minimize structural vibration using collocated piezoelectric actuator/sensor pairs. The proposed fuzzy controller increases the damping of the structures to minimize certain responses. The PID controller is used as a contrast controller to the FLC. The numerical simulation results show that the fuzzy approach is much portable than PID method. In summary, a novel vibration absorption scheme using fuzzy logic has been demonstrated to significantly enhance the performance of a flexible structure with resonant response.

Abstract: An ANFIS (Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system) controller which bases on Takagi-Sugenos method and combines the advantages of neural controller and fuzzy multi-variable controller has been studied and developed for the real-time control of EGR and VGT in a diesel engine. In the AVL-BOOST and Matlab/Simulink co-simulation environment, the control performance of ANFIS controller has been compared with those optimal control strategies based on a fuzzy logic controller. Results show the new controller can have more active control to EGR position and the optimal emission levels can be maintained.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to develop the architectural system design of the Six Channels Compact Fuzzy Logic Controller (SCC-FLC) ready to be embedded into the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) for joints of arm robot's manipulator. The FPGA based system design of this study could controlled independently six servo of arm robot manipulators to reduce workload of computer system. The method of this study divided into four steps. The first step, the FLC-P (Fuzzy Logic Controller Processor) block module of single channel C-FLC (Compact Fuzzy Logic Controller) on the previous study is redesigned in architectural system design by adding lots of block modules using multiplexing method. The second step, the module interconnections of system architecture are designed by defining some of inputs and output ports. The third step, the specific function of block modules about working processes is determined based on the definition of input and output ports. The fourth step, sequences of multiplexing processes are determined based on the algorithm of FLC, thus the total processing time of SCC-FLC could be estimated from architectural system design. Architectural system design of SCC-FLC requires external chips are 12bit ADC MAX-186 chip and 12bit DAC MAX-3203 of six chips. The block modules of SCC-FLC are FLC-P, LUT-MBFs (Look Up Table of Membership Function), ADC-I (Analog to Digital Converter Interface), DAC-I (Digital Analog Converter Interface), ECEG (Error and Change Error Generators), SPL (Set Point Latchs) and TAC (Time And Control). The total processing time of SCC-FLC by estimation is 256.2 µS or sampling frequency of 3.907KHz using clock frequency of 100MHz.

Abstract: The Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is accepted as the versatile Power Flow Controller between electrical power nodes or power sources many times referred to as the buses. Regulation of real and reactive power flow between power nodes can be achieved in the desired manner using the UPFC. In this paper it is demonstrated how additional real power sources like Wind and Photo Voltaic Solar power sources can be augmented into the DC link of the UPFC and supplementing the seamless performance of the UPFC. Fuzzy Logic has been chosen to be the controller as it is moderately robust and its usefulness in this application is compared and contrasted against traditional PI controller. MATLAB / SIMULINK based simulation environment has been used for demonstrating the validity of the proposed schemes.

Abstract: A novel Fuzzy Logic controller design methodology is presented. The method utilizes a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) binary search algorithm to generate the rules for the Fuzzy Logic controller rule-base stage without human experience intervention. The proposed technique is compared with the well established Lyapunov based Fuzzy Logic controller design in generating the rules. Finally, the controller’s effectiveness and performance are tested, verified and validated using an elevator control application. The novel controller’s results are to be compared with traditional Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller and classical Fuzzy Logic (FL) controllers.

Abstract: This paper focuses on the analysis and controlling automotive vibration using semi-active air spring suspension system by implementing fuzzy and Proportional-Integral derivative (PID) controllers for light vehicles. Due to low transmissibility coefficients and their ability to varying the force generated depends on load capacities the air spring is modelled as an actuator. The dynamic behavior of semi active actuator controlled is contrasted with passive suspension under single bump, double bump and random road profile. The performance of air spring controlled suspension has been investigated. Results show that the fuzzy controller gives optimized results.

Abstract: Electrical energy is critical resources for all nation building activities in order to keep prosper economy side for the nation. Therefore, demand for electricity is on the ever increasing side in both industrial and domestic levels. This paper presents a basic technique using a fuzzy logic technique for managing the power consumption at residence level by focusing on water heater (WH) load control. It aims to increase the utilization of electricity supply system. The proposed algorithm in this paper is shown to design a model for load management during peak hours and off peak hours at domestic level by developing the preference setting. Then, simulation results are expected to show the effectiveness of the fuzzy logic controller in demand side management (DSM) strategy.
