Abstract: This paper proposes to develop a model of 1-phase induction motor control using modified H-bridge 11-level inverter. This work notifies a multilevel inverter using a H-bridge output stage with four bidirectional auxiliary switches for an induction motor. The inverter is capable of producing eleven levels of output-voltage levels (+Vdc/5, +2Vdc/5, +3Vdc/5, +4Vdc/5, +Vdc, ‘0’ level, -Vdc/5, -2Vdc/5, -3Vdc/5, -4Vdc/5, -Vdc) from the DC supply. Theoretical predictions of the proposed system are validated using simulation in MATLAB simulink.

Abstract: This paper proposes the natural extension of classic switching table based direct torque control of induction motor modified for 3-level diode clamped inverter. The proposed method has the advantages of fewer harmonic in the output and low torque ripples. The switching table direct torque control scheme is adopted due to the simplicity of its control algorithm. To demonstrate the performance of proposed multilevel inverter fed direct torque control, the simulations are carried out for constant speed under no load and step change in load. The comparison of the dynamic and steady state performance in terms of torque ripple of the 2-level inverter and 3-level inverters are presented.

Abstract: Based on estimation of signal parameters via singular value decomposition (SVD) filtering technique and Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) combined with extended Prony algorithm, a new method for induction motor’s broken rotor bar detection is proposed. Experiments show that the method is effective in applying to detect the fault of motor’s induction with the situation of interference noise and load fluctuations. And it is more practical in line detection because the algorithm is relatively simple and the running time is short.

Abstract: An on-line method to detect induction motor stator core fault by stator negative sequence current is proposed in this paper. New equivalent circuits including the positive, negative and zero sequence equivalent circuits are is obtained by the existing abc coordinate model. In the circuits, the stator core losses is increased and asymmetrically distributed among the three phases when a stator fault happens. Experiment results prove the effectiveness of this method.

Abstract: Hydroelectricity is a viable resource for production today. Being renewable, delivering system services and producing the cheapest electricity possible, these are facts that recommend hydroelectricity today. Oftentimes power plants work together with storage pumping stations. Simulation and multiple-speed experimental testing work together to ensure their efficiency increase when redesigning and/or refurbishing. Very important also is the operating cost reduction. Eliminating cavitation regimes lead to a longer life for the machine. The net result is a reduced maintenance activity therefore cost cuts. Operating these stations remotely, offer the possibility to reduce the operating and maintenance costs. Data acquisition feature helps managers to better schedule the maintenance activity with the net effect of reducing the operation cost. This paper presents a testing platform retrofitted with remote control capability and camera vision to demonstrate the remote control and monitoring. Built in the lab, the experimental facility is a valuable hardware platform allowing the researcher to target different research directions.

Abstract: This paper proposes a new method of motor fault detection by applying the eliminated-signal as data sources for motor fault analysis. Bi-spectrum is used as a key method for processing the signal. The expectation is that the eliminated-signal may contain information for fault analysis. The spectrum and bi-spectrum of the signal are applied as signal processing methods to analyze the motor faults. The method is tested on 3 different motor conditions: healthy, stator fault, and rotor fault motor at full load condition. Based on experiments, the method can differentiate conditions clearly. They seem also to be able to measure fault severity levels by observing the change in among harmonic amplitudes.

Abstract: According to motor installation mechanical sensor inconvenient problem put forward new speed identification method, from adaptive control principle and extended kalman filtering algorithm principle of the two different observer is applied to induction motor direct torque control, and analyses the research and comparison, find out their advantages and disadvantages. Using Matlab/Simulink construct the system model and the simulation, and the results show that in the load change, noise suppression, etc is better than that of EKF MARS, in the state observation, the MARS is better than that of EKF.

Abstract: Vector control system is dependent of parameters of motor, and rotor time constant usually changes with temperature. Through analyzing the influence of rotor time constant variations on the control system performance, a novel identification method based on adaptive flux observer is presented. Different with traditional pole assignment method, it implies robust control theory and Lyapunov stability theory, by solving a linear matrix inequality (LMI) to obtain the feedback gain matrix. The simulation results show that this method can identify the rotor time constant of induction motor accurately, and it has rapid converge, good indiscrimination degree and strong robustness.

Abstract: A novel fuzzy sliding-mode structure has been proposed for Extend Kalman Filter (EKF) based on sensorless control of an induction motor in this paper. Fuzzy sliding-mode structure includes two nonlinear controllers, one of which is sliding mode type and the other is PI-fuzzy logic based controller. The new structure has two advantages: sliding-mode controller increasing system stability and PI-like fuzzy logic based controller reducing the chattering in permanent state. The scheme has been implemented and experimentally validated.

Abstract: This paper presents how a capacitive voltage source is connected in series to the rotor of induction motor to improve power factor, reduce stator current, and improve efficiency and ability of overloading. The principle of the reactive power compensating device for windings rotor induction motor is described and mathematical model in dq0 reference frame is set up. A single phase to three phases AC-AC cycloconverter is adopted in order to produce capacitive voltage, which make the circuit simple and capacity of transformer much decremented. Using an 89S52 sing-chip microcomputer as the control kernel and MAX197 as A/D, the system is capable of automatic adjusting the function of power factor compensation as the change of the motor load. The system was tested on a JR138-8 motor. The result shows that the power factor is over 0.96 and the current of the stator reduces over 15%.
