Abstract: ACL damage is one the most frequent causes of knee injuries and thus has long been the focus of research in biomechanics and sports medicine. Due to the anisometric geometry and functional complexity of the ACL in the knee joint, it is usually difficult to experimentally study the biomechanics of ACLs. Anatomically ACL geometry was obtained from both MR images and anatomical observations. The optimal material parameters of the ACL were obtained by using an optimization-based material identification method that minimized the differences between experimental results from ACL specimens and FE simulations. The optimal FE model simulated biomechanical responses of the ACL during complex combined injury-causing knee movements, it predicted stress concentrations on the top and middle side of the posterolateral (PL) bundles. This model was further validated by a clinical case of ACL injury diagnosed by MRI and arthroscope, it demonstrated that the locations of rupture in the patients knee corresponded to those where the stresses and moments were predicted to be concentrated. The result implies that varus rotation played a contributing but secondary role in injury under combined movements, the ACL elevation angle, is positive correlated with the tensional loading tolerance of the ACL.

Abstract: Combustion of power fuel in a large thermal power plant produces a great deal of harmful flue gas, which endangers personal safety of residents around it. In this paper, the injury mechanism of flue gas ejected by the thermal power plant is analyzed. The injury indexes of flue gas ejected by the thermal power plant are put forward. In order to improve the safety status of flue gas ejected by the thermal power plant, we developed a special instrument, which can detect on-line the injury indexes of flue gas ingredients, particle species, ejection speed and ejection flux in the ejected flue gas. The detection data can be used to assess the safety statue of the ejected flue gas, to predict the injury degree of the ejected flue gas to people and to provide basic data for establishing the valid emergency schemes.

Abstract: The probability of frontal collision is the highest in the vehicle collision accidents, and crew injury mechanism of frontal collision is an attractive research subject. Based on the multi-rigid-body dynamics, a “vehicle-crew-belt” dynamics model is introduced, and software Pc-crash is used to simulate dynamic responses of this multi-rigid-body model by referencing basic parameters of FMVSS law. Dynamic response characteristics between the vehicle and the crew body are analyzed so as to expound the link between the vehicle movement and human-body injury. The result shows that a reliable evaluation of frontal collision is achieved, which provides a theory basic and practical reference for the research of accident injury.
