Abstract: Mining subsidence often produces significant horizontal and vertical movements at the ground surface, the surface deformation induced by underground coal mining can be predicted by probability integral method, and the surface geo-deformation disasters can be visualized based on GIS components. A three dimensional (3D) visualizing system of surface geo-deformation information is designed and developed with ArcGIS Engine and C# in the study. According to the surface deformation-predicted data induced by underground coal mining in Guobei Coalmine of Huaibei mine field, the extents and degrees of ground deformation disasters are visualized in 3D views for surface vertical subsidence, slope, curvature, horizontal displacement and horizontal strain based on the GIS-developed application platform.

Abstract: Theextraction of ore and minerals by underground mining may induce groundsubsidence phenomena. These phenomena produce several types of ground movement likehorizontal and vertical displacements, ground curvature and horizontal groundstrain at the surface, and associated building damage in urban regions. Theinfluence function is a well-known and efficient method for the prediction ofthese movements, but its application is restricted to mining configurationswith the same influence angle around the mine. However, this angle may displaydifferent values when the mine is not horizontal or when other subsidenceevents already occurred near the considered mine.In this paper a methodology and analgorithm are developed, based on the traditional influence function method inorder to take into account different influence angles. This methodology isimplemented in the Mathematicasoftware and a case study is presented with data from the Lorraine iron minefield in France. Ground movements calculated with the developed methodologyshow a fair concordance with observed data.

Abstract: In this paper, the implementing method of updating the coal mining area’s DEM by mining subsidence forecast data is introduced. The data file of mining area’s elevation points can be generated by extracting from the digital topographic map of coal mining area, and after the interpolation and encryption of extracting mining area’s elevation points, the data file of the mining area’s collapse can be obtained by subtracting the values of the subsidence forecast from the elevation values of the mining area’s elevation pionts. According to the data file of the mining area’s collapse, DEM of the mining area’s collapse can be generated, and the corresponding contour map can be also generated. This has important significance for the environmental management and disaster prevention engineering design of coal mining area.

Abstract: Development of mining subsidence in the coal mining area is impacted by the geological occurrence conditions and mining design conditions. Therefore, taking the Yushenfu coal mining area in northern Shaanxi province as study area, the research analyzed the key geological and mining impact factors of the mining subsidence respectively with grey correlation analysis method and stepwise regression analysis method. The results show that the perturbation coefficient, synthetical protodyakonov coefficient of overburden rocks, width-depth ratio and the ratio of mining depth and height are selected as the key geological-mining factors impacting mining subsidence in YuShenFu coal mining area. It hopes that the research results can present the scientific guiding function for the prevention of mining subsidence in the future.

Abstract: It is mining subsidence that causes the damage of ecological environment and the surface buildings. The basic method to relieve the damage is to controll surface subsidence effetely. For this problem, the thesis studied the characteristics of overlying rock failure through theoretical analysis, on the basis of the mechanism of surface subsidence. Then we obtained three main factors to subsidence which are sunken, compression, and lithological characters. According to the main factors influencing mining subsidence under cut and fill mining, then we reduce the impact from these factors successfully by taking appropriate measures to control it.

Abstract: Analysis on the characters of ground subsidence of Yangjiaping mining area, with same excavation depth and recovery coefficient, the numerical simulations to nonlinear large deformation using finite-difference method(FLAC) are achieved on the different strip extraction schemes that adopted different mining and reservation width. The result indicates that the subsidence values and horizontal deformation increases with the increasing of the strip extraction width on condition of the same recovery rate. Based on probability density function (PDF) method, the relationship of the coal pillar width, the mining width and ground deformation is acquired, which is some useful reference for using the strip extraction method to control the surface movement and deformation.

Abstract: Differential synthetic aperture radar Interferometry has been widely applied to monitor mining subsidence for its high spatial resolution, competent accuracy and wide coverage. In this paper, we introduce the principles of InSAR, discuss several key technical issues in mining subsidence monitoring, including selection of SAR images, advanced algorithms for phase unwrapping and Persistent Scatterer InSAR technique.

Abstract: Weibull distribution was applied to calculate the ground subsidence and deflection value, in order to analysis accurately the influence of ground subsidence caused by underground mining on high voltage electric power lines. The results showed that the effect of reducing surface subsidence was notable and the high power line was working normally. It was accurate enough to calculate ground deformation by using Weibull distribution, and Matlab program can be used to solve the function feasibly.

Abstract: Cellular Automata is a discrete dynamic model based on space-time, and is one of the effective methods to study complex systems. The CA, a new method applied to coal mining subsidence dynamic evolution model, provide a new idea for the prediction research of mining subsidence. Definition and basic theory of CA were introduced briefly. According to the particularity of the research in the field of mining subsidence, the definition of CA is extended. The model of dynamic evolution of mining subsidence is built on the CA. Then modeling method and the structure of model are elaborated, and the advantages of the CA are applied to coal mining subsidence prediction model is analyzed.

Abstract: The similar material model method is used to simulate to the movement of cover rock and ground which is caused by mining underground coal, the substance of deformation and failure law of similar material model method is that artificial materials which are used in the experiment have similar physical and mechanical properties as archetype, affinity constants of geometry, movement and force are used as similarity index and criteria in the simulation experiment as the most important factors. The prototype model is made into a certain proportion model in reduction, and the initial state and boundary conditions of model must be similar as archetype. Then exploit the simulating model, the regular patterns of fault destruction, curve, movement and deformation of cover rock can be discovered in the process of exploiting the simulating model, and the movement and deformation of the surface and its sphere of influence can also be got. Finally the observations of model can be calculated and projections up to the prototype by the similarity index, so the most important regular pattern of the prototype can be got.
