Abstract: Innovative approaches to new design conceptions require at the same time application of simulation numerical methods and some physical experiments. The present paper describes preparation and implementation of both virtual and physical experiments focused on the dynamic response of a new design conception of a so-called car tailgate.

Abstract: The multi-body system analysis has become one of the main simulation techniques to calculate the kinematics characteristics of a car suspension under wheel travel or to build a virtual prototype model of a vehicle in order to predict the vehicle dynamics performance. The modeling of twist beam rear suspensions is always difficult for the unique structural behavior of this component. A non-linear method based on multi-body dynamics software (ADAMS/Car) was used to represent the twist beam within the suspension system. The kinematics characteristic analysis of the rear suspension was realized by means of ADAMS/Car. The main suspension parameters (toe angle, camber angle and wheel track variation) were calculated by changing wheel travel. The result shows that the method of suspension kinematics analysis by using ADAMS/Car can be used in the design of suspensions conveniently.

Abstract: For an efficient design process of complex mechatronic systems a continuous and verification-orientated model-based methodology with Model-in-the-Loop (MiL), Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) simulation is suitable. Using such an approach the real-time capable nonlinear multi-body system model of the entire vehicle with the electric power train and the identification of the physical parameters are described. A continuous appliance of the introduced model is a contribution for the frontloading and guarantees a time and cost efficient mechatronic design approach.

Abstract: A mathematical modelling approach of a multi-body wheel suspension is presented. The wheel suspension is modelled in a modular manner so that different types of vehicles can be simulated. The inter-changeability of the wheel suspensions is achieved by calculating the translational and rotational Jacobian matrix and its partial time derivatives for the wheel carrier and the wheel. The results of modelling the kinematics of a McPherson wheel suspension are shown.

Abstract: LED die bonder is a high precision packaging machine and needs proper tolerance design to ensure its high performance requirements and low manufacturing costs. The related tolerance design methods, such as worst-case method and statistical method, mainly focus on two-dimensional cases in tolerance design. However, tolerance design for LED die bonder needs to deal with three-dimensional cases. To solve the problem, a new method for tolerance design based on Multi-body systems is presented. According to the motion characteristics of the related assembly component parts of LED die bonder, the motion equations in ideal and actual situation for die bonding are given respectively which use the principle of Multi-body systems and the homogeneous transform matrix. By solving the motion equation, we can obtain the tolerances of the related assembly component parts.
