Abstract: To solve technical problems of current roller conveyor, such as big volume, complex structure and heavy maintenance workload, a new roller conveyor has been researched by adopting advanced technology of three-phase A.C linear motor. It has no intermediate transmission units that exist in the conventional roller conveyor, and is a new form structure of the conveyor. The device consists mainly of rollers and linear motors. The roller serves as driving and load-bearing mechanism, and as the rotor of linear motor, too. In the process of operation, with rollers served as the carriers, the friction force between rollers and objects transmits the motion consummately to achieve the goal of transportation. This new conveyor can completely replace the current various types of roller conveyor with such features as simple structure, low failure rate and cost.

Abstract: The torque of the continuously variable transmission system with friction drive mechanism is transmitted by contacting roller with input and output disks. For the higher transmitted torque, it is necessary to apply large load in order to get higher friction force, which in turn generates severe high stress on the contact surfaces of roller and disks. The toroidal type CVT system has simple component arrays that have three contact points between roller and each input or output disk to get the torque transmitted. However, compact assembly design of the three sets of rollers contacting with input and output disks needs the roller to stay with unsymmetrical angled position with each other. Therefore, the contact shapes between roller and disk vary according to the transmission ratio and should be investigated to avoid the excessive contact stress over than ~1.8 GPa. In this study, the contact geometries of roller and disks in the toroidal type CVT system are computed during the gear ratios. The contact area of which the size depends on the material elasticity, curvatures of roller and disk, and applied load are all of elliptic shapes because of the convex and concave curvatures of roller and disk shapes, respectively. From the computed results considering the size of roller diameter, roller stroke and applied load, it is found that the shapes of contact area changes the sizes of major and minor elliptical diameters in the rolling direction during the gear ratios due to the unsymmetrical angled position of roller.

Abstract: This paper studys an intelligent control system based on micro-computer in order to rope wire in a winch. It introduces the constituent parts and work principle of the system, analyzes moving direction rules of the rope-aligning device, calculation method of step number and speed regulation algorithm of the stepping motor. The system can adapt rope-aligning speed and distance to the wire diameter and the roller rotating speed. With good characteristic such as regulating speed quickly and smoothly, following roller rapidly and controlling itself intelligently, the system will be widely used in the future.

Abstract: The rolling technic of involute spline has many advantages. This method can increase the production efficiency, has no cutting, can improve the metal structure of machining surface to increase the quality of surface and prolong the life of product, so the technic is used extensively in the industry of automobile and tractor. The design model of spline outline is built according to the formative theory of equidistant spiral surface by means of meshing principle of involute spline, roller is manufactured and machining spline is test according to the model. The correction of spline outline is accounted by means of measuring the outline of spline in three-coordinates measuring machine and comparing the measuring data and the data of ideal involute spline. The spline is remachined in corrected roller and ideal spline shape is gotten.

Abstract: In the plasma-carburizing method, the detrimental grain boundary oxides in the surface of the materials and sooting problems are eliminated and the high carbon content near the surface is easily achieved. This paper describes a study on the contact fatigue strength and wear characteristics of plasma-carburized rollers. Test rollers made of super-carburizing steel MAC14 and conventional carburizing steel SCM415 were plasma-super-carburized under different carburizing conditions. The contact fatigue tests were carried out for these plasma-super-carburized rollers. The effects of case depths on the contact fatigue strength of these rollers were determined. The effect of shot-peening on the contact fatigue strength was also examined by carrying out contact fatigue tests for shot-peened rollers. The wear tests were also carried out and then the wear characteristics of test rollers were determined. These test results for plasma-super-carburized rollers were compared with the results for gas-super- or gas-eutectoid-carburized rollers.

Based on fuzzy theory, the paper discusses the fuzzy reliability design of roller with random variables and fuzzy variables, puts forward a basic method of digital simulation, and furthermore takes actions to improve the reliability of the rollers.

Abstract: In this paper, a kind of material compactor was designed beginning with the recognition of energy conservation and low cost. Through the study of the influence factors and the mechanization of the material compaction at normal temperature, the author found out better parameters of influencing factors. The improved material compactor consists of a compression roller, backspin rolls, supporting device and other auxiliary devices. The eccentric block inside the compression is driven by the motor to generate exciting force. After the material enters the feeding inlet, it will be squeezed between the compression roller and the backspin rolls. Under the action of both extrusion pressure and vibration, the purpose of material compaction is achieved.

Abstract: CO2 emission from construction equipment directly affects the global warming by increasing greenhouse gas. While there are many indirect sources in construction processes that affect the global warming, such as construction materials, CO2 emission is considered as one of controllable and measurable sources of greenhouse gas if construction engineers make a careful plan of equipment schedule according to CO2 emissions and equipment productivity. This paper introduced a CO2 measurement method in a real-time during construction phase and analyzed the relationship among gas velocity, rpm and CO2 emission. While engine rotation and CO2 emission are closed related to each other, their relationship is not perfectly coincident because of the coupling effect between rpm and CO2 emission. In addition, complicated mechanism behind the CO2 emission exists even during the equipment operation because of the various conditions of equipment, rolling resistance, working type, and field environment. The findings from this research will help an environment-friendly planning of activity scheduling by considering CO2 emission together with the equipment productivity.
