Abstract: Thermoelectric cogeneration may be applied to the exhaust of an automobile to generate additional electric power, by applying a temperature differential across the thermoelectric power generation modules. To obtain maximum net power, the highest allowable temperature difference should be obtained. Therefore, a cooling system should be employed to ensure that the cold side of the thermoelectric modules remain as cold as possible. An evaporative cooling system patented by Einstein and Szilard is used as a base for a non-parasitic cooling system to be used together with thermoelectric modules. The cooling system utilizes the same heat which powers the thermoelectric modules as a power source. By utilizing the high solubility of ammonia in water, the solubility dependency with temperature, and usage of polar and non-polar solvents to direct the flow of ammonia as a coolant, it is possible to create a cooling system which performs better than passive heat sinks, but negates the power requirements of active cooling systems.

Abstract: Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) laminates are used in the wide field, because they have excellent properties of a specific strength and of a specific stiffness. The CFRP has a possibility of weight reduction automotive structures which can contribute to improve mileage and then to reduce Carbon dioxide. On the other hand, the safety of collision should be also made clear in the case of employing the CFRP to automotive structures. In this paper, the Al guarder beam reinforced with the CFRP is examined by an experiment and by a numerical analysis for replacing it to the conventional steel door guarder beam equipped in the automotive door. The experimental relations of impact load to displacement for the Al guarder beams with the different thickness of CFRP showed the good agreement with those of numerical results. From the comparison of these results, the numerical method developed here is quite useful for estimating the impact behaviors of Al guarder beam with CFRP layer.

Abstract: In the present study, we fundamentaly analyzed the interfacial reaction and evaluated the joint strength in dissimilar diffusion bonding of Al alloys to steels. The growth of the reaction layer consisting of FeAl3 and Fe2Al5 intermetallic compounds followed the parabolic growth low. The joints with 5000 series Al alloys had a higher growth rate of the reaction layer than the joints with A6061 Al alloy. The joints of A6061 Al alloy to HT980steel had the lowest growth rate of the reaction layer. The joint strength depended on the thickness of the reaction layer. The A6061 Al alloy/steel joints had the maximum joint strength at around 1µm of average reaction layer thickness.

Abstract: The steering system of automobiles might vibrate under external excitation loading. Severe vibration of the steering system maybe bring the drivers uncomfortable and even result to noise and damage of some parts of the steering system. In the same time, it can not be satisfied with NVH design requirement of automobiles. In this study a three- dimensional finite element model of a steering wheel of automobiles was established and finite element static and dynamic analyses were conducted in order to validate dynamic characteristics and strength of the steering system. The simulation results can provide a reference for structural design of the steering system.

Abstract: Problem of lateral driving stability of the automobiles passing by the vicinity of pylons of cable-supported bridges in condition of strong cross wind exists obviously because of the alternative wind environment above the deck due to complex flow fluid around the pylon and the deck. Based on numerical wind tunnel technology, the numerical simulation investigation of alternating wind environment above the girder near A-shaped pylon for main span of the steel truss girder cable-stayed bridge of Zhengxin Yellow River Highway-railway Bridge is carried out, considering wind barrier set up on the deck or not. The result shows that the original program has significant effect on wind speed amplification and mutation near the pylon domain in cross wind. Further investigation on wind barrier set up on both sides of the girder section or near the A-shaped pylon along the bridge gives that wind barrier near the A-shaped pylon is useful for reducing wind speed above the leeward deck near the pylon and weakening its mutation. Deeply, taken a medium-size commercial bus as an example, lateral driving stability of the automobiles passing by the leeward lane near A-shaped pylon is discussed through the dynamic response simulation of the vehicle controlled by ideal-driver under cross wind. The results confirms again that the wind barrier near the A-shaped pylon is good for driving safety of vehicles passing by the leeward lanes in vicinity of A-shaped pylon. In all, above work provides technical support for the final implementation of the wind barrier as an engineering measure.

Abstract: This report considers the creation of a controller intended for reconfiguring the artificial intelligence of robotic vehicles. The functional structure of hardware-reconfigurable digital module for intellectual control of robotic vehicles is proposed and further interaction between its functional modules and remote support center in different situations requiring reconfiguration is concerned. The procedures of self-check and self-testing of the hardware-reconfigurable digital module for intellectual control of mobile space-based robots are described, which are necessary to ensure reliability of reconfiguration.
