Abstract: This study is concerned with a design process for a foldable container structure using a finite element analysis. A foldable container structure consists of frames, panels and hinge systems. The main structure of a foldable container carries all the loads while a hinge system is designed to provide its foldability. In this work, finite element structural analyses for the main foldable container structure are carried out based on the ISO standard regulation, whose results are then taken for the design of a hinge system. The finite element analysis with two types of hinge systems are also performed. It is found out that the main structure of a standard 20ft container could be used for the foldable container with the same capacity if the corner edge in the side assembly is strengthened. It is also concluded that the hinge systems proposed in this work could be successfully used in a foldable 20ft container.

Abstract: This Design Structure Matrix is a method and a tool used to capture, analyze and optimize iterations in the design process. It has been widely used over the past two decades by researchers from both academia and industry. DSM is well suited to identify iterations in the design process. Many heuristics were developed to deal with DSM in order to reduce the number of iterations by rescheduling the tasks of the design process. These heuristics are based on a process called partitioning. These heuristics give generally an approached solution but not the optimal one. In this paper we introduce a new algorithm in order to get the exact solution of the partitioning process using linear programming.

Abstract: A brand company always comes a well-design corporate identity system (CIS) which preserve its management qualities with outcome products, packages, details, related people behaviors, all interaction etc. At present, Taiwans cultural creative industries play a very important role in constructing the soft collective infrastructure. This project try to prove the tailor-made model which a well design package system concerned new CIS will enhance good impression to wide consumers especially for small food and bakery industries. Research methods are selected both focus group and content analysis qualitatively gather experts opinions, quantitatively coding the key words. To accumulate form images related knowledge. The result can be applied to some Taiwan small business on Shorten design process for developing their products and commercial packages.

Abstract: This paper deals with the energy-saving product design involving the product energy property into design process. On the basis of the energy factors concepts, the paper analyzes the extraction process and energy effectiveness model of energy factors. To study the air-conditioning refrigeration system, the paper establishes the energy information model, recognizes the crucial and controllable energy element and extracts the energy factor set C = {compressor volumetric efficiency λ, motor efficiency ηd, power frequency fd, heat transfer performance coefficient φ, finned lateral general area Ao}. Then it makes a further decomposition of coupling energy factors λ, φ and finds out the corresponding design parameter. In the end, the paper maps the energy factors and design parameter into design process, establishes the energy effectiveness model and presents several measurers for decreasing the energy consumption during the actual use of air-conditioner.

Abstract: Emotions are the important factors affecting design. The instant exquisite self-demand resulted from being emotional can provide creative sources for design, and it is the catalyst of the creativity. The designers often neglect their most basic emotional creativity. This paper analyzes the effect of emotions in design based on cultural emotions and individual emotions, and proposes reasonable advices for emotional management in design process.

Abstract: The anti-seismic behavior of RC frame with buckling restrained braces (BRBs) subjected to severe earthquake action in seismic region was investigated in this paper. A design process of the buckling restrained braces used for stiffness-deficiency concrete frame structures was given, the design of the buckling restrained braces was conducted for a common frame structure, the layout of these braces in it was given by taking an actual engineering for illustrations, and the static analysis and time-history dynamic analysis were also performed. The results of computation showed that the use of buckling restrained braces has led to several functional improvements, such as the increase in structure stiffness, reduction of story displacement, and improved energy dissipation ability when compared with the frame without such braces. Analysis results showed further that RC frame with BRBs could absorb and dissipate seismic energy more effectively, improving anti-seismic performance of the framed structure.

Abstract: The paper presents the method basing on engineers knowledge and experience for aiding the process of designing module manipulators. The method, proposed by the authors, is based on the CBR method (Case Based Reasoning). CBR is a method of problem solving that bases on the searching for analogies (similarities) between a currently solved design task, and earlier cases, that adequately described, are stored in a computer memory. The paper presents the algorithm and formalized description of the developed method. It has been also presented its scope, and method of functioning are illustrated on the example of the designing module manipulators.

Abstract: The paper presents the method basing on engineering knowledge and experience for aiding the design process of hexapods. The method proposed by the authors uses the architecture of a hybrid system, which combines an advisory system and the CBR (Case Based Reasoning) method. The paper includes the formalized description of the developed method and presents the system functioning on the example of the design process of hexapods.

Abstract: It is presented the knowledge engineering based design process for tricone bits and the principles of intelligent design systems. Based on Teamcenter, using NX system development software, taking full advantage of the existing design standard, design data, and materials such as design experiences, design criteria, tricone bit models accumulated by industry companies, a knowledge driven intelligent design system for tricone bits has been developed. It is a way of effectively reusing industrial product development knowledge, enhancing effectiveness and quality of product design, and achieving product full life cycle management.

Abstract: This paper analyzes the stamping process of a rigid gasket, designs a set of progressive die for gasket. Three-position of the die includes the punching, cutting, bending and blanking. And compared with single-process die and compound die, the gasket can obtain better surface quality, the die can prevent poor strength and partial load, and punching hole in the ear and separating bending process can improve the accuracy of stamping parts, it has some reference value for the progressive die of the stamping parts. Throughout the design process, the model of rigid gasket and 3D mold design are established in Pro/E4.0 and PDX, this can significantly shorten the design cycle; the process of open-mode is simulated in the Simulation module.
