Abstract: A space grid method, based on image processing technology, was proposed to evaluate asphalt mixture segregation, which used the ratio of statistical data variance and its square of mathematical expectation to describe material uniformity by statistics of distribution of particles on space grid. Computer procedure was developed and some experiments are made. The results indicate that this method is simple and can be used to evaluate asphalt mixture uniformity quantitatively with a good adaptability.

Abstract: Many EHL (elastohydrodynamic lubrication) experiments have been performed with the regard to measuring the film thickness variations according to contact conditions, such as contact load, sliding-rolling ratio, contact accelerations for the verification purpose of lubricant characteristics. The measured images of film thickness by the interferometry system are easily converted into film thickness values even both in nanometer scale and resolution with the help of image processing technology. However, only the measurement of the EHL film thickness is not enough to verify the lubricant characteristics under the various contact conditions, because the lubricant is under very high contact pressures above 500MPa, where the lubricant is suddenly solidified and is no longer considered as a fluid itself. In this work, the EHL fluid film pressures are computed from the measured interferometric image of contact film thickness ranging from 10nm to several hundred nano meter, which should be taken with nano-scale resolution. The image processing technique makes it possible to convert the measured film thickness into contact fluid film pressures if the contact geometry and material properties are known. Without the nano-scale resolution for the measured film thickness, the converting computation from the measured film thickness to fluid film pressure is not possible due to the severe noises of interferometric image over the contact area. Measuring technology of the EHL film thickness with nano-scale is also explained with regards to nano scale resolution.

Abstract: Pavement straw composite fibers (PSCF), a new material, were independently invented and developed by blending agriculture waste straw and modified bentonite, as showed in this paper. The chemical corrosion properties of PSCF in different pH values were test in microscale, and digital imaging processing technology was adopted to analyzing quantitatively the physical and mechanical properties, including particle area, pores connectivity rate and compressive strength, before and after PSCF were corroded. Research results show that the particle area of acidified PSCF is smaller than that of alkalized PSCF, however, the fractal dimension of acidified PSCF is bigger than that of alkalized PSCF. The change of PSCF microstructure has significant effect on its macromechanics properties. The compressibility of acidified PSCF was obviously bigger than that of alkalized PSCF, so the strength of acidified PSCF decreased significantly with the acidifying time increasing. The main reason was gradually decreasing of the particle area, decreasing of the fractal dimension and the loose tendency of fibers particle distribution. The interaction between mineral composition of PSCF and hydrochemistry solution was the basic factors determining straw structural characteristics, and the physical and mechanical properties of PSCF were affected by its structural characteristics. The main process was that mineral compositions of PSCF were cemented by the corrosive action of hydrochemistry solution, or some compositions were dissolved and precipitated, the porosity and particle area of PSCF, the arrangement pattern of soil particles as well as other microstructures changed. And deformation properties of PSCF changed correspondingly with the change of PSCF structure shape. Moreover, the constitutive model of PSCF with effect of acid and alkali was presented according to test data of digital image. It provided reliable techniques to quantitatively evaluate the pavement performance of PSCF in micro and macro scales. Furthermore, the chemical corrosion theory was improved, and the reference for constitutive model research was provided.

Abstract: In this paper, the MATLAB image processing technology has been adopted to obtain the contour of a turning tool with arc blade by binarization of the image, median filter as well as detection of the edge. Then curve-fitting method have been used to fit the contour of straight edge and arc-edge respectively. Finally, the nose angle of the cutter and the arc radius of the turning tool have been obtained by the analysis of fitting results of slope for straight edge and curvature radius for arc-edge. It is shown that the measurement of geometric parameters for cutting tools based on MATLAB not only has small measurement errors and high measurement efficiency, but also can be widely used to obtain tiny geometry parameters for tools with high precision.

Abstract: The technologies on digital characterization of reservoir microscopic pore structure are very important during the process of oilfield development. Firstly, the definition of microscopic pore structure is elaborated. Secondly, six technologies on digital characterization of microscopic pore structure that are adopted by the scholars at home and abroad are concluded. Lastly, the novel technologies on digital characterization of microscopic pore structure is prospected. And the spatial distribution of microscopic pore structure is so complicated that other advanced technologies should be adopted during the process of research.

Abstract: The saliva pregnancy test apparatus is dependent on manual operation to obtain results by observing the saliva crystallization image with complex operation, how to recognize the saliva crystallization image quickly and accurately has become an important research topic. In this paper, an image recognition method on the crystallization of saliva is proposed. Firstly, gray processing on the original image, improved Otsu method is used to select the threshold and binaryzation. Then the proportion of black and white pixels is calculated to identify saliva crystal images with the percentage values. The results show that the method is simple and treatment results are accurate.

Abstract: The small or medium-sized airports are generally lack of airport surface movement detection equipment due to the insufficient financial budget in early and latter investigation of airports constructions or facilities. The paper studied airfield surveillance in the small or medium-sized airports by image processing technology and also discuss diverse surveillance sources in large airport and RWSL one of most key components in A-SMGCS. The analysis include: physical installation of video sensors, range of surveillance coverage, the flowchart of processing, the algorithm for detecting and tracking the moving objects which is suitable for environment of airfield in airport, the projection method between video image coordinate and airfield plan coordinate and the evaluation index of image processing technology.
