Abstract: The major procedure of QFD is to identify the customers’ needs for the product and then convert into appropriate technical measures to fulfill the needs based on the company’s competitive priorities. The priorities of product characteristics can be obtained by translating important technical measures into product characteristics. According to their characteristics to identify the relevant engineering parameters, the prior engineering parameters will be selected as the key requirements to redesign. This article will concentrate on the creativity way of thinking “matter-element theory and extension method”, with the help of this method to assist to translate customer requirements (CRs) into product design attributes and engineering characteristics (ECs) can provide effect assistance for the designer to conceive new products comprehensively and deeply. The system for design decision-making will be developed and an innovative design case, wheelchair for the elderly, successfully demonstrates that the proposed design process is feasible and efficient.

Abstract: In recent years, with the rapid increase of tunnel percentage in Midwestern highway construction, the tunnel operation cost rise quickly. In the cost, energy consumption of tunnel ventilation and illumination occupies a great proportion. In order to realize energy-saving and emission-reduction, there have been some new ventilation technology, for instance, the improved ventilation device, the improved ventilation method, and some new ventilation control technology. However after some new technology was applied, the phenomenon of energy-saving but not money-saving appeared. For the scientific and objective evaluation of highway tunnel ventilation technology energy-saving effect, construct evaluation index system from the three dimensions of technology usability, economy, and application effect, and then evaluate the energy-saving effect based on matter-element model. The result of assessment will give decision support for the later selection of highway tunnel ventilation technology proposal.

Abstract: Virtual enterprise or e-manufacturing is an advanced and effective manufacturing mode to modern manufacturing enterprises. In these modes, business process has been extended to outer enterprises, i.e. inter organization workflow. In order to achieve a efficient tool for workflow modeling with both simplicity and semantics, matter element is applied to construct a matter element digraph, in which a node is matter element. Then manufacturing service based workflow model can be dynamically changed or composed by matter element transformation. A case is studied to explain the approach presented in this paper.

Abstract: The project logistics indicators system of risk evaluation is established through analyzing the project logistics risk characteristics. Risk evaluation model is proposed based on matter-element theory.The project logistics risk、evaluation index and the characteristic value are taken as the matter-element. The logistics risk grade can be gained by calculating the risk coefficient of correlation, using subjective and objective combination weighting methods and the integrated risk correlation calculating in the end. An example is used to validate the proposed method. The results show this model can solve the problem of uncertainty index and the risk quantitative analysis then risk decision can be made.

Abstract: In order to improve automatic level of packaging for lump material,extension knowledge that contains matter-element,extension transformation,correlative function,rhombus thought model,was applied in conceptual design.Extension theory was used to depicted the requirements of product design that adapt ceramic title automatic packaging corner machine and then the optimal scheme was obtained through optimal degree evaluation method, which verified the validity of Extension Theory.

Abstract: Obtain the weight of risk factors at all levels based on AHP analysis model,optimize the third edition of Pipeline Risk Management Manual to establish a new index system.Bring in the matter-element and extension model,according to the established index system and expert scoring results , calculate the correlation function values of each risk characteristics to each of the risk levels,using the figures to reach the risk level of the city pipeline.Through living example shows that this evaluation method is correct.Compared with the general evaluation method,the matter-element and extension analysis model overall consider the weight of the risk factors,expert score and the grade index system.This evaluation method is more accurate compared with the general evaluation.

Abstract: In real estate industry, there exist some contradictions, including less land supply and higher residential demand, high residential vacancy rate and growing residential demand, resource waste owing to short-term investment and limited resources, high prices and low purchasing power. The paradox matter-element extension theory is fit for the contradictive study, and consistent with the sustainable development of the real estate industry in terms of research subject, logic theory, and variability. On basis of these, this Study establishes extension-theory-based evaluation index system for sustainable development of real estate industry, in which the indices are categorized into five groups: economy and finance, social equality, ecological environment, resources utilization, and government management.

Abstract: Pavement performance evaluation is a reasonable safeguard for the conservation plan and an important basis for investment decisions. In order to obtain a precise and quantitative evaluation result, a general evaluation model based on Extension Theory is established, and a concrete index is raised to indicate the pavement real condition. Practical pavement detection data of Jing-hu highway in Jiangsu Province is used to validate this model. The result shows that the evaluation model based on Extension Theory gives an accurate evaluation on pavement performance, and reflects the pavement condition well. It could provide solid foundation for pavement maintenance orders, and may have a bright future.

Abstract: To solve the existing fuzziness in the grading of stability evaluation of geocell protected slope and inconsistent between evaluation result by single index and the fact, this paper establishes index system of the stability evaluation of geocell protection of slope and propose a method. First, two-grade Fuzzy Matter-element Model is established based on the index system. Second, factor weights of evaluation index are calculated by AHP. Finally, the grade of the stability of geocell protection of slope is obtained based on Correlation Degree. Analysis results show that based on comprehensive consideration of subjective factors and objective factors, this method is effective and agrees well with engineering practical.
