Abstract: In order to study the effects of different factors on the performance of crumb rubber modified asphalt, on the basis of many laboratory tests, this article analyzed such factors as types of crumb rubber, fineness, content, mixing temperature and matrix asphalt. Results show that mixed with the crumb rubber, pavement performance of the asphalt has been improved to varying degree. In the engineering application of rubber asphalt, it is suggested that the 20 mesh crumb rubber modified asphalt of truck tire be adopted, with about 16% to 18% of crumb rubber content at about 175°C. As for matrix asphalt, it should be selected according to the different climatic conditions and the mechanical characteristics of the pavement.

Abstract: The present domestic modifiers are mainly by-products of petroleum --- costing high and non-renewable, which lead to the difficulty in their wide use. This paper explores the mechanisms of purified diatomite, enhancing the stability of asphalt mixture under high temperature, low temperature or with water. At the same time, the paper makes analysis on the economy of project application, providing theoretical and economical references for spreading purified diatomite as a new modifier.

Abstract: The scrap rubber powder and the waste plastic compound modified bituminous mixture are used in the first-class highway asphalt concrete pavement. They can not only reduce the environment pollution, but also enhance the operational performance of bituminous pavement. It has the economical, social and the environment three aspect remarkable benefit. This article uses the appraisal system of the rubber asphalt to test the compound modified asphalt performance with the different rubber powder quantity and the waste plastic quantity in different mixture temperature and the time. By text, we can determine the best quantity of the waste plastic.

Abstract: SBS modified asphalt has good abilities to resisting pressure of high or low temperature and rutting in areas where changes of temperature is large. In our country,It is one of the important engineering materials which can solve the problem of heavy traffic on asphalt pavement and rutting in long and steep roads.In order to deeply understand the changes of rheological properties during the Thermal aging reaction of SBS modified asphalt,under different temperature conditions.regarded 90 # asphalt with CNOOC as lateral reference standard, Systematic study has been applied on the rheological properties of SBS modified asphalt and 90 # asphalt at different temperatures by using methods of DSR.The results showed that:during 28°C~34°C,with the rising of Temperature,performance of Resistance to fatigue cracking of the original modified asphalt and the original 90 # asphalt has became more and more strong.At the same temperature,the original modified asphalt’s performance of Resistance to fatigue cracking is stronger than the original 90 # asphalt’s.Long and short-term aging reactions weaken the performance of resistance to fatigue cracking of SBS modified asphalt and 90 # asphalt, and the effects of long-term weakening is more obvious.during 52°C~76°C,the anti-rutting performance of SBS modified asphalts and the 90 # original asphalts became more an more bad with the rising of Temperature.

Abstract: According to the relationship of the viscosity and temperature when the mixture reached Optimum compaction effect and the shear rate, the viscosity shear rate of the testing modified asphalt mixture, 60s-1 has been found. The test results show that the difference between the compaction temperature of the modified asphalt mixture and the compaction temperature under the condition of the best compaction effect is 5°C. It shows that the temperature is satisfied with the specific temperature during construction, so the determination method is workable.

Abstract: To test the effects of crumb rubber's mesh and parameters to rubber asphalt to improve the performance of asphalt, we use different mesh rubber powder and asphalt to prepare rubber asphalt in the laboratory, and do dynamic mechanical testing to rubber asphalt sample. We find that different mesh rubber powder have obviously different action to improve the performance of asphalt. Under the same conditions, in order to make better use of modified bitumen. We propose how to use modified asphalt prepared by different mesh rubber powder for different paving.

Abstract: Five SBS modified asphalts and one base asphalt were selected to carry out frequency sweeps over a wider frequency range using the dynamic shear rheometer (DSR). Six asphalt binders were subjected to sinusoidal loading at 30°C-90°C within the linear viscoelastic limits, and master curves of complex modulus (G*) and phase angle (δ) could be constructed by means of the time-temperature superposition principle (TTSP). The results show that the G* values of SBS modified asphalts are significantly greater than those of base asphalt at low frequencies, but are slightly smaller at high frequencies. Compared with the base asphalt, SBS modified asphalts have narrower master curves of complex modulus, and their phase angles are much smaller within the whole frequency range. This indicates that various properties of SBS modified asphalts, such as high-temperature property, low-temperature property, temperature susceptibility and elastic recoverability, are superior to those of the base asphalt. The G* values of the rolling thin-film oven (RTFO) aged asphalt are larger than those of the unaged asphalt in the whole range of frequencies, demonstrating that the anti-rutting performance of asphalt binder is improved after short-term aging.

Abstract: Composite modified asphalts with micron fly ash/SBS and nanocalcium carbonate (nanoCaCO3)/ SBS were prepared respectively by melt blending. The ageing properties and physical properties of micron fly ash/SBS and CaCO3/SBS modified bitumen were investigated. The results demonstrate that micron fly ash/SBS modified bitumen exhibited an increasing softening point, a decreasing penetration and a decreasing ductility. Compared with that of SBS modified bitumen, the anti-aging property of the micron fly ash/SBS modified bitumen becomes worse. Effects of the nanoCaCO3 on the properties of SBS modified asphalt appear as a decreasing penetration, an increasing softening point, and a decreasing ductility. The anti-aging property of the CaCO3/SBS modified asphalt was better than that of the SBS modified asphalt.
