Abstract: The powder feeder head is studied, which is one of the key to laser cladding. In view of many coaxial nozzles that are used nowadays, we have found that while cladding is doing, most of the nozzles have poor affect on powder-gathering. So as have researched on the theoretical and experiments, we designed a new coaxial nozzle, which has a great affect on powder-gathering, and can be modular disassembled. We have researched on powder stream theoretically, shot the morphology of powder stream by using high-resolution CCD camera, and analyzed the parameters of powder stream. And this new coaxial nozzle has been used in laser cladding experiments.

Abstract: This paper presents a novel docking mechanism, based on a new type of mobile modular self-reconfigurable robot named M2SBot. The paper introduces the design of structure, the principle of work and the feasibility analysis of this mechanism in detail. At last, the simulation of kinematics based on Adams verifies the feasibility of the docking mechanism. The prototype of the mechanism was manufactured by 3D printer.

Abstract: Li-ion power battery which has a broad prospect of application in many industry fields is a new type of high power battery. The formation-testing and sorting-packing are necessary processes in battery manufacture. Currently the process of formation almost takes the way of monomer battery, then sorting and packing by measuring the parameters of its internal resistance, voltage and capacity. The operation is complicated and the amount of data is huge. On account of the problem, we propose a new process of battery modularization. It can greatly reduce the workload of the parameter testing when using the optimized process. And batteries can get a good consistency, which is favor of sorting-packing and production automation.

Abstract: Bag is an important stuff in daily life, which is used to carry personal necessary articles. The elderly people usually cant distinguish the articles in the bag easily due to the decrease of vision with age. Moreover, because of the poor immunity, the elderly people are easy to be infected by bacteria. The purpose of this paper is to design an elderly-specific bag which can help elderly people distinguish the articles by touch and avoid infection due to the contamination of food and drug by mixed together with money and keys etc. Questionnaires were prepared and given to 80 aged people to determine the stuffs which they usually carry in the bags. After statistical analysis, graphic symbols were designed to characterize the stuffs that the elderly people carry most often in daily life. These symbols were tested by the aged people to determine which is the most suitable to characterize the correspond stuff. After that a bag with these symbols and modular was designed.

Abstract: To improve product family design methods for mass customization currently, scale-based modular method for product family design is proposed. On the basis of it, a web-based customization product design system is built. Three processes are included in the system: modeling product family, customizing individual product and estimating cost. Key technologies used in the system are studied on focus that include modular design, scale factors design, tabular layouts of article characteristics (LAC), Case-Based Reasoning (CBR), parametric CAD (SolidWorks) and so on. Finally, taking MK2110 internal grinder as an example, the web-based customization design system is set up.

Abstract: According to actual needs of measurement system, the virtual instrument with functions of automatic acquisition and automatic control was built by NI data acquisition card. Then, automatic control and measurement system with modular features was set up using LabVIEW software. The mode of autonomous configuration is flexible and convenient, which can greatly improve the adaptability of the device in the actual measurement. The experimental efficiency was enhanced, and the experimental data was reliable.

Abstract: The first part of the paper treats the general problems concerning the shape memory alloy actuators and their operation principle. Then, our work referring to the developing a modular family of linear and rotational actuators, realized in many typo dimensions, in a compact design, with facile connection with the actuated mechanisms and supplying module is presented. The active elements of these actuators are shape memory alloy wires, ribbons and helical springs. The influence of the geometry of the active elements on the time response is studied. The most important solutions to reduce the resistive heating time of active elements and to improve the time response on cooling are identified.

Abstract: Modular design is a standardized approach to organically combine standardization and diversification and to effectively integrate multi-type and small volume-production with efficiency, which is a new technology that has been applied universally. Its basic methods contain the four aspects of identifying the destination domain of modular product, etc. In China, there are about hundreds of intelligent building intercom system manufacturers and products. However, how to make the product internal structure design standardized and modularized and realize the compatibility of different manufacturers’ products is a problem necessary to be resolved in this industry. This paper conducts modular design concerning about intelligent building intercom system products, and combines the green design thought with modular design method, which can simultaneously fulfill the product’s functional and environmental properties, exerting highly significant roles in the R & D, increasing the production efficiency, reducing cost and improving enterprise management. From a long term, system modular design is the development trend of intelligent buildings.

Abstract: At present, virtual instrument technology has been widely used in all kinds of tests, measurements and automation fields. Test software is the mainstay of virtual instrument, which plays a key role during the process of implementing test task. In order to meet the flexibility of test items and variability of parameters about industrial testing objects, this paper introduces a modular programming idea by using software of virtual instrument. This idea divides all test items into sub-modules due to different function of test items, so as to recombining some sub-modules to satisfy new requirements of different tests. This method is used in an actual software design for industrial test system, practical application shows that this software design method of modular programming is not only realize the flexibility and generality of automation test system, but also provide a good platform for the secondary development of test program.

Abstract: This paper presented model-based integrated design technology for configuration design of modular 3-PRS parallel robot. The kinematics screws matrix and constraint screws matrix of the end effector were obtained based on screw theory, the constraints of the end effector were analyzed and the degree of freedom of the robot can be determined. The forward kinematics of the parallel robot was analyzed according to the geometric relationship of a kinematics chain. Three-dimension solid model of the parallel robot was designed. Afterwards, the co-simulation of the mechanical and control system of the parallel robot was studied by applying virtual prototype technology to optimize the parameters of mechanical structure and control system. The simulation results of kinematics and dynamics can be obtained, which will offer basis for developing the prototype system.
