Abstract: Natural disasters like icing have a strong impact on the power transmission line which is the foundation of safety and stability operation for power system. In this paper, an online transmission line monitoring and patrol system based on Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) and Ethernet Passive Network (EPON) is firstly designed and a model is built to analyze the latency influenced by the number of towers using EPON communication technology which is solved by Lingo 11.

Abstract: This paper has designed a ZigBee application which is based on the IEEE address. This applications operating environment is TIs protocol stack called Z-Stack. The application can realize the following functions: wireless network self-organizing, the automatic acquisition and information upload. The upper machine communication protocol uses the IEEE address as device ID. This insures the application can find the datas physical source. With the help of network address, the applications speed and any other performance indicators will not drop. Using this application, the user can immediately find the accurate position directly after the security problem appeared. It has improved the efficiency of the wireless network management obviously.

Abstract: The three-dimensional coordinates monitoring system to underground pipeline using IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) sensing technique was developed. Three-dimensional coordinates obtained from the developed system were compared with three-dimensional coordinates obtained from using total stations and levels. when compared with the results, maximum error of the horizontal and vertical positions were 7cm ,14cm respectively. In our Country, tolerance error of underground utility surveying is ± 30cm. Therefore, the developed system is expected to be utilized the underground pipeline location surveying .

Abstract: To prevent people to forget to take medicines, we propose a new monitoring system to prevent forgetting to take medicines on time. In this system, we develop a funnel-shaped sensor consisting of a holder with an LED below the lid of the holder and a photo detector at the bottom to detect medicines. When medicines are dropped into the sensor, they fall down to the bottom of the sensor and the photo detector receives only part light of the LED. According to the value of the output of the photo detector, it can be easily to judge medicines with a proper threshold value. Highly accurate monitoring system to prevent forgetting to take medicines can be produced by using this sensor. If medicines are not taken at time to take medicines, the system announces to the user.

Abstract: In building a new On-line Multi-factor Monitoring System (OMMS) of Water Accidental Pollution Events (WAPE) based on the behavioral responses (BR) of aquatic organisms, the effects of physi-chemical factors (PF) such as temperature (T), turbidity (TUB) and pH on BR of Daphnia magna and medaka (Oryzias latipes) were discussed with Biological Early Warning System (BEWS). The results suggested that when T was lower than 5°C, BR of D. magna and medaka would be inhibited in 5 hours. If TUB was more than 50NTU, the behavior strength (BS) of D. magna would decrease to about 0.3 after 10h exposure, the effects on medaka would be much weaker in 24h than D. magna. If pH is lower than 5.5 or higher than 9, negative effects on BR of both aquatic organisms would happen in 15h. Therefore, a new OMMS was built for the purpose of environmental management of WAPE, which included BEWS and PF Monitoring System (PFMS).

Abstract: A quick-test method for the determination of the topographic characteristics of a CBN grinding wheel is developed based on acoustic emission technology. For implementing the strategy, an acoustic emission (AE) monitoring system was integrated into a 3 axis CNC grinding machine. A computer with specific software allows the signal acquisition and visualization of the AERMS signals, which are originated through interferences between the grinding wheel and dressing tool in a range of a few micrometers. The acquired AERMS signals from these interferences are used in order to establish an on-line map from the grinding wheel periphery, indicating the active cutting grains during the contact amid grinding wheel and dressing tool. The implementation of such activity supported by AE has led to satisfactory results regarding the required time to evaluate the strategy as well as the verified correlation with different grinding topographies caused by changes in the dressing parameters.

Abstract: Internal material supply management for manufacturing workshops usually suffers from message delay and abnormal logistics events, which seriously holdback the reactivity capability of production system. As a rapid, real-time, accurate information collection tools, Radio Frequency identification (RFID) technology has become an important driver in the production and logistics activities. This paper presents a new idea that uses RFID technology to monitor real-timely the abnormal logistics events which occur at each work space in the internal material supply chain and proposes its construction method in details. With the experimental verification of prototype system, the proposed RFID-based monitoring system can find in time the abnormal logistics events of internal material supply chain and largely improve the circulation velocity of production logistics, and reduce the rate of mistake which frequently occurred in traditional material management based on Kanban.

Abstract: In order to improve the efficiency of designing monitor system software and modeling with UML, the UML application of software system modeling was researched in theory and practice. The whole process is divided into four steps, which are the global analysis, the local analysis, the global design, and the local design, and the GUI of the system is described at last. A distributed highway monitoring system is analyzed and designed by UML.

Abstract: In this paper, hazardous materials transportation monitoring system is designed, implemented, and tested using Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). According to energy consumption and response time during clustering of Wireless Sensor Networks LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) routing protocol, we proposed STATIC-LEACH routing protocol based on static clustering, it can effectively reduce energy consumption of the wireless sensor nodes and reduce network latency of cluster. With WSN and GSM/GPRS, low cost and easy deployment remote monitoring is possible without interfering with the operation of the transportation.

Abstract: The main purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the performance of the solar hot water heater for dwellings in a long period of time. In order to evaluate the performance, there were 11 solar hot water heaters located in Gwangju Chosun University examined for their performance in 30 month period as a long term. The specific monitoring systems of each heater were constructed for the demonstrational research and the data base associated to each monitoring systems were assembled for an extensive analysis for variety of data obtained. The demonstrational experiments were conducted through following the routine procedures of 4 specific tests (the replicated drainage test, the daily drain test, the daily agitation test, the short-term test). The performance evaluation was based on the performances in insulating and solar collecting and the experimental routines and the performance experiments had incorporated the consumers’ use and need of the product. The ultimate goals of this investigation were to achieve consumers’ trust on the products and to promote the extensive distributions of the solar hot water heaters. The demonstrational research of this investigation was to evaluate the performance of the solar hot water heater for the residents for a long period of time. This research will be continued extensively.
