Abstract: The presented paper is aimed at assessing the level of performance through an industrial company endpoints indicators, in which the efficiency and performance of business processes is transformed to. The paper describes the concept of company performance based on theoretical knowledge of authors from Slovakia as well as developed economies. It also provides concrete examples of financial and non-financial indicators and informs professionals and general public with a number of additional indicators. Likewise the paper characterizes most famous concepts of measurement and management of company performance based on results of a survey which was conducted by the Institute of Industrial Engineering and Management MTF STU in Trnava, as a part of the research project VEGA No. 1/0787 / 12th. Authors attach great importance to measure the process performance as an important part of performance measurement of an industrial company. They introduce the procedures for measuring the manufacturing processes, whole range of specific performance indicators of production processes as well as different methods of measuring the performance of production processes and the company as a whole unit. The level of significance is designed for each proposed indicator and measurement result consists of value reflecting the overall company performance (various departments), which can be used as a benchmark for individual departments or plants within a particular multinational group.

Abstract: This paper develops a control device for distribution transformer neutral current and loss caused by unbalanced loads. Due to multi-objective optimization, its control strategy is designed, considering the reliable operation of distribution transformers and its performance. This device can gather power quality parameters, calculate the optimal regulation and control capacitor switching, which consists of power quality acquisition unit, central processing unit (CPU), capacitor control cabinet and power supply. After simulation and experiment, the result shows device can achieve target by dynamic adjustment.

Abstract: With the increasing requirement in software quality, the importance of software testing in the project implementation process is growing. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the test work, it is necessary to be effective in managing it, so software enterprises are in a grave need of an efficient and practical software test management platform. CMM is a method for evaluating software contracting capacity to help improve software quality, focusing on the elevation and evaluation of management and engineering capabilities in the software development process. This study, on the basis of research of CMM model, the software testing process and the need of company's software testing management, designed a CMM-based software testing management platform. The model consists of six functional modules, including requirements management, test case management, test running management, the test defect management, the test task management, workload management. The improved features contain test milestone management, test result analysis and supporting testing automation. The functions of e-mail alert, defect report discussion records and custom defect status are also included. Eight kinds of staff roles are involved.

Abstract: In this paper, the main characteristic of definition, property, requirement of raw material, mix proportion design and performance improvement of high volume fly ash concrete (for short HVFAC) are summarized. The applications of HVFAC in dam, highway, building and port are introduced. The research results have shown that HVFAC have outstanding properties of physical mechanics, but some problems need to be further studied. It is believed that an operable strict corresponding technical criterion would be set down as soon as possible for engineering practice.

Abstract: The goal of the research is to present an integrated approach that combines multi criteria analysis and disaster and emergency management. The study is based on a well know multi criteria technique, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). An AHP model is proposed in order to define a Disaster Risk Management Performance Index (DRMPI) that quantifies the performance and effectiveness of risk management to evaluate emergency alternative problems. This model is implemented in a real case study.

Abstract: In this paperwork we are studying a turbofan engine with mixed separate flows where the primary flow it is initiated separately from the secondary flow which by it’s configuration helps improving the thrust and a reduction of the specific consumption. The thrust growth it is made by an air feed infusion, the infusion it’s made by the mix of air feed flown by the fan’s runners and compressor’s runners using air intakes with a different geometric configuration.

Abstract: Multi-dimensional applications use tree structure to store data and space filling curves to traverse data. Most frequently used Quad-tree and Z-ordering curve are analyzed. By importing these to a HDF5 file format, a multi-dimensional data storage subsystem is constructed. Performance test results show in a sequential reading application environment, this method is feasible and efficient.

Abstract: To realize accurate prediction of disk cutter performance and determine the crucial parameters in the design process of TBM (Full face tunneling boring machine), a new performance forecasting method of the circular blade cutter is presented, which integrates the parameters of breaking rock such as rock, disc cutter and construction. Furthermore, the second derivation in the process of breaking rock is considered, a new comprehensive performance forecasting model of the circular blade cutter is established based on the Coulomb-Mohr failure criterion. On the basis, the existed performance forecasting models of disc cutter such as Liner Cutting and CSM, and the performance forecasting model of disc cutter presented this paper are analyzed and calculated, according to Colorado linear cutting experiment. The calculation results indicate the prediction accuracy of the performance forecasting model presented in this paper is greatly improved, comparing with the existed models (such as CSM, linear cutting). Finally, the influences of the parameters (rock, disc cutter and construction) are analyzed, which provides for the overall design of TBM cutter and construction with some scientific basis.

Abstract: To improve the timing related performance of the embedded software of automotive control system, a performance modeling language has been developed based on UML (Unified Modeling Language) using meta-modeling technique. The proposed language consists of three kinds of meta-models used to define the high-level modeling paradigms for software structure, target platform and runtime system respectively. The modeling environment configured by the proposed language and software modules of functional model importation, components allocation, task forming and timing analysis can reuse the existing functional models, add timing requirement as well as resource constraints, and fulfill formal timing analysis at an early design stage. As results, the reliability of the automotive embedded control software can be improved and the development cycle and cost can also be reduced.

Abstract: Biodiesel is one of the promising alternative fuels for automotive engines due to the depletion of fossil fuel resources, increasing energy demands and environmental concerns. The biodiesel can be obtained from various bio energy resources such as edible and non-edible vegetable oils and animal fats. However, the use of biodiesel derived from edible oils such as palm oil, sunflower oil and soybean oil has negative impact on global food market. Biodiesel from microalgae is considered as a third generation biofuel derived from non-edible resources and best suited for internal combustion engines. Microalgae have the potential to provide sufficient fuel for global consumption due to its high oil content and fast growing ability. This paper provides a brief overview of biodiesel production from microalgae biomass and its suitability as alternate fuel in diesel engines. This review highlights the selection of suitable algae species for oil production, fuel properties in comparison with standard diesel and other biodiesel fuels, performance, combustion and emission characteristics when used in engines, and the economical aspects. Further, the research and development aspects of biodiesel from microalgae as fuel for automobile diesel engines are also reviewed.
