Abstract: The aim of the paper is to reduce the Scrap in Transfer Pump Tightening Assembly in Common rail Pump. Low Torque rejection phenomenon was considered as it was of more rejection in past 6 months and it was having average per month scrap cost to be excessive. The objective of the work was to reduce the scrap quantity of TPC Tightening Assembly phenomenon from 3% of total scrap quantity of CR – Pump assembly to an accepted level. Due to this more rejection quantity, Loss of production and quality, High scrap cost and utilization of more man power were noticed in CR-Pump Assembly. To solve these problems seven problem Solving tools were attempted. To reduce the scrap cost and increase productivity and quality were targets with good usage of man power.

Abstract: The quality of the semiconductor products is defined by a series of the key performance parameters which have some certain relations to the electronic test parameters generated among the multiple manufacturing processes. Aimed at the quality control problem of the multiple manufacturing processes, a FDA (functional data analysis) method has been used and got the mapping relationship between the process parameters of the product lines and the product quality characteristic. A simple Change-Point hypothesis has been tested to analyze the data curves generated by the FDA method, and the key process variables have been found. Then, the equalization between the new test result and the old one has been verified by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov 2-sample test method. Some multiple manufacturing processes test data, which was collected from a semiconductor product workshop, has been modeled and analyzed. And the analysis results can illustrate the key factors of the process quality control in the multiple manufacturing processes and approach the reduction of the test times and the improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the equipment.

Abstract: To cope with the challenges of product quality design system applied in networked collaborative product development (NCPD), a new method of quality control for NCPD-collaborative quality design mode, which integrates voice of customer, quality function deployment (QFD) and failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA) , and corresponding functional modules and framework were all put forward. This mode dealt mainly with constructing and running collaborative quality design system, integrated several enabling technologies such as the integration of QFD and FMEA, task distribution of quality design, integrated technology of computer-supported-collaborative work (CSCW). On the basis of these, applying Java, JSP and JavaServlet to the system, improve working efficiency and shorten the development cycle so as to respond to the fluctuation of market demands as quick as possible. The quality design of some automobile was introduced as an example to verify that the system developed would efficiently meet the requirements of NCPD.

Abstract: Masks are widely used in different industries, for example, traditional metal industry, hospitals or semiconductor industry. Quality is a critical issue in mask industry as it is related to public health and safety. Traditional quality practices for manufacturing process have some limitations in implementing them in mask industries. This paper aims to investigate the suitability of Six Sigma quality control method for the manufacturing process in the mask industry to provide high quality products, enhancing the process capacity, reducing the defects and the returned goods arising in a selected mask manufacturing company. This paper suggests that modifications necessary in Six Sigma method for effective implementation in mask industry.

Abstract: Attempts have been made to develop a gray value-matching detection method for quantitative evaluation of defects and density of green parts in metal injection moulding, based on the analysis of X-ray digital radiography images. The results show that the range of gray values should be in about 1.4% when the dimensional accuracy is required within 0.3%, and voids are present where fluctuation of the gray value is larger than 10%. The quantitative evaluation of voids, powder content and density distribution through the gray value-matching can respectively predict severity of voids, shrinkage, and deformation in the sintering stage. Furthermore, the ability to detect defects and particle density distribution of this method allows for the development of an inference system to predict the optimal parameters.

Abstract: Rough sets theory (RST) is a new data mining method that effectively deals with the problems with inexact, uncertain or vague knowledge in a complex information system. This paper investigates knowledge discovery methods from the textile industrial database, and then presents a RST-based intelligent control model (ICM) for spinning process. In order to analyze the yarn strength when the characteristics of fibers are given, a rule extraction method based on RST is researched. The logical rules extracted from the decision table indicate that the initial strength of fibers is a key factor influencing on the yarn strength. At the same time, the different values combination of the final reduced attributes also obviously influence on the yarn strength in different degree when the certain nominal yarn is being processed. Therefore, RST method can be taken into account for spinners to choose suitable fiber materials in order to ensure the quality and reduce cost.

Abstract: It is well known those two popular methods of testing; destructive testing based on fracture mechanics and non-destructive testing (NDT) which does not make any damage in the specimen. NDT was first used for military purpose but nowadays it is used widely in many fields such as composite materials, medical purposes, fire safety, laser welding, food safety and quality and characterization of materials. The aim of this paper is to review the recent advancement of thermography non-destructive methods especially in testing a quality of bio-composites materials. The review reveals the advantages and disadvantages of pursuing any of the available methods in NDT on bio composite materials.

Abstract: A straight-line trajectory tomography method, based on multiple tilted X-ray cone-beams formed by multiple sources and detectors, is investigated. In this method, multiple cone-beams are fixed and tilted at different positions and only the object translates along a straight-line trajectory. This kind of imaging method may have potential applications in industry testing and security inspections. As is known, projection data from a straight-line trajectory based on single cone-beam are incomplete and their reconstruction suffers from a limited-angle problem. The proposed straight-line trajectory tomography method based on multiple tilted X-ray cone-beams can be used to compensate these deficiencies. To reconstruct images, algebraic reconstruction technique (ART) algorithm is deduced. Numerical simulations validate our method.

Abstract: In this article, the Tabular CUSUM (Cumulative Sum) Charts statistic method is employed to analyze the strength quality control of ready-mixed concrete for rigid pavement, for which the CUSUM is also used to analyze and monitor the micro changes of process mean for the strength of the ready-mixed concrete. The result of analytical study supports that the CUSUM statistical analysis skill is more sensitive than the Shewhart Control Chart in terms of designed mixing ratio parameter, water-cement ratio, and admixtures analyzed under the same concrete strength. When micro changes are presented in continuous mean strength value of the ready-mixed concrete, it can detect the continual changes of the concrete quality in a more accurate way. By combining the CUSUM statistical analysis and Shewhart Control Chart, higher accuracy of the quality control analysis could even be achieved in order the enhance quality control performance when pouring the ready-mix concrete on rigid pavement.
