Abstract: Drawpieces made of advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) usable for production of self-supporting car bodies are characterized by the presence of the springback phenomenon caused by the stress relaxation of the elastic part which is the result of stamping. Its compensation requires proper verification of die tools. The presented paper describes a methodology using CAE for die design. The methodology solves an optimization problem determining the verified shape of die tools upon taking into account the consistence of the drawpiece shape with the shape postulated in the project. The real drawpiece was used to judge the usefulness of the methodology in die design.

Abstract: In order to save the manufacturing cost and solve problems of stamping, a new type of flexible blank-drawer (FBD) forming device was presented by the authors based on the principle of flexible stretch-forming. It can be used with a variety of different sizes, different shapes of stamping die which can cut the manufacturing cost and shorten the development cycle of sheet metal forming largely. Extensive numerical simulations of the process for forming saddle parts were carried out and the forming results using FBD were compared with those using traditional blank-holder (TBH). By adjusting the value of blank-drawer force, good quality of saddle parts can be attained easily. Simulation results indicate that FBD forming can solve the shortages of TBH forming, inhibit wrinkle, prevent fracture, and form parts with small springback and uniform strain. This work can provide useful guidance in plastic forming technology for sheet metal.

Abstract: Performing the 3-D numerical modeling of the automobile covering parts by the Pro/E software, creating both addendum and blank holding surfaces, and importing them into the DYNAFORM so that a FEM model can be created. Use the DYNAFORM to perform the simulation calculation and analysis, and study the influences of the factors such as friction coefficient, die clearance and material parameters (n and r values) on the stamping formability. The results show that the parameters such as friction coefficient between die and blank, die clearance and the v value in the material parameters play the key role in the the blank flowability, and have the significant influence on the stamping result.

Abstract: The design of a suitable forming process for a stamped part is a complex issue. Many boundary conditions must be fulfilled and many considerations must be made to come to a successful solution. Elimination of wrinkles and splits very often need contrary counter-measures and, more often than not, it is both an iterative and subjective process. AutoForm Engineering has thus developed a methodology whereby stamping issues are automatically detected, based on all important failure and quality criteria, and which enables automatic tracking of engineering progress. This paper introduces a systematic approach which reduces the number of loops in the effective design of a forming process and allows the streamlined evaluation of multiple simulations in order to determine the most influential parameters to generate the best solution. The automatic detection of stamping issues and subsequent systematic process improvement will be illustrated using both an academic part and a real automotive component.

Abstract: Materials used for the production of aluminum beverage cans must meet strict strength and plastic requirements. Meeting these requirements by manufacturers ensures minimization of defects in optimized production line, trouble-free operation and good efficiency of production. Depending on some factors, such as: chemical composition of the 3104 aluminum alloy, sheet rolling method, lubricant layer and cooling method, the final product may be characterized by different mechanical parameters. In this study properties of six types of sheets from four different suppliers have been measured. Thickness distributions have been analyzed both on the width and length of the supplied coils. Sets of samples have been prepared for the research, cut out from the coil in three directions 0°, 45° and 90° of the rolling direction. On the basis of the uniaxial tension tests, yield strength, tensile strength, elastic modulus and elongation have been determined. The results have been summarized taking into account their variable values depending on sampling directions. Forming limit curves have been defined for the examined sheets. In order to identify the effect of selected data on wall thickness of both final and semi-products, thickness measurements have been conducted for the drawn cups and cans on different forming stages.

Abstract: As one of the oldest manufacturing methods, the plasticity processing still is the basic and important way to produce the components in this period of IT. In the recent years, the plasticity processing has gained more attentions and a further development. At the same time, for the purpose of the sustainable development and the big profit, the environmental friendly methods should be applied into the plasticity processing. Based on the introduction to the development of the precise forging and stamping, this paper described the development trends and the basic needs of the plasticity processing and indicated that it is demanded to speed up the change of plasticity processing from the experimental or trial-and-error types to the scientific analysis and to realize more of precision, more of economy and more of greening (3M strategy) for the processing.

Abstract: This article mainly studies about the stamping processing of the tapered bearing retainer which mainly presents the finite element simulation of the tapered bearing retainer stamping process using Deform software. The author put forwards that how to analyze the stress and strain distribution laws, the shear stress, the stamping force and their influence law, also analyzes the influence the main parameter has on the stamping process and make the optimized selection.

Abstract: Based on cold rolled TRIP 780 and HSLA 340 steel sheet, the stamping of U-beam and its springback was studied experimentally and numerically. Collision analysis model of closed hat section beam was established on the basis of simulation analysis of U-beam stamping and springback. Mapping was used to transfer results of thickness, stress and strain from U-beam forming part to impact structural part. Collision processes of closed hat section were analyzed under various operating conditions considering the influence of forming. The results show that thickness variation, residual stress, and work hardening of the material after forming affect collision processes directly. The current paper provides reference for improving precision of simulation for vehicle collision.
