Abstract: Since October 2006 the Hydro Casthouse Reference Centre has been operating. The centre is a full scale state of the art pilot casting centre for extrusion ingot, sheet ingot and foundry alloys, consisting of a 17Mtons furnace with a metal loop, a launder system including modular in-line melt treatment units such as ceramic foam filters (CFF) and inline melt refining units (Hycast SIR) and a casting pit with the possibility to cast full size geometries and a casting length of 5.5m. A two strand horizontal casting machine further adds the possibility of continuous casting of extrusion ingot and foundry alloy ingot. The centre has a state of the art superior control system (SCS) and a lay-out, including control room facilities, well suited for training and demonstration purposes. In addition the centre has access to state of the art software codes for simulating the casting process (Alsim) and the as cast microstructure (Alstruc). The present paper gives some examples on how the centre is operating and the support that is offered to casthouses in Hydro. This includes (i) simulation of the casting processes (hot tearing and as cast structures) applying the Alsim and Alstruc codes, (ii) pilot scale testing of casting and melt treatment equipment, (iii) testing of new parameters and procedures for melt treatment and casting (iv) production of trial orders of new alloys and (v) practical training of casthouse operators (basic for molten metal handling, emergency situations and response, casting principles and trouble shooting, etc.).

Abstract: Research and development design is involved with inflatable lifting web professional boots in architecture industry limited space installation work technology field. This web-based boot includes boot body, lifting device and support to support the feet and the lifting device to fix on the boot body. The support uses the lifting device to connect to the bottom of the boot body, and through the lifting device function, it can have lifting displacement to the boot bottom. The workers put foot fixed on the support, so as to make the inflating lifting boots walk along with the workers. The adjusting lifting device can make support member move far or near the bottom direction of boot body. The workers can lift higher or lower along with the support. The workers can adjust the lifting device according to specific work height, without using or moving ladder or stool, to save time and improve the work efficiency.

Abstract: In this paper, dynamic characteristics analysis is carried out for a large aqueduct of South-to-North Water Transfer Project using large finite element analysis software. Two kinds of connection supports are considered, namely elastic support and completely simple support. Six kinds of water depths are calculated by additional mass method: empty aqueduct, 1/4 water depth, 1/2 water depth, 3/4 water depth, designed water depth, full water depth. Results show that basin type rubber support strengthens the constraint to aqueduct, and strengthens the connection of aqueduct to pier, and also increases the system stiffness, therefore the natural frequency is higher than that of completely simple support; The influence of water to dynamic characteristics of the aqueduct is quite obvious, so water effect must be considered in computation; Water has no influence on the principal mode shapes of the aqueduct structure, i.e. the dry mode shape and the wet mode shape are similar in appearance.

Abstract: The underlying way to reduce accidents is reducing the number of workers on the coal face. Automatic mining can realize this object. The key for unmanned automatic mining is the application of electro-hydraulic control technology used on workface support. The electro-hydraulic control system applied in Wannian colliery has following function: Automatic moving , lowering and rising of support, monitoring and display of roof pressure; Shearer locating, controlling of cutting height and shearer speed, remote operation and procedure running; Automatic tension of conveyor chain, conveyor operation with constant power and monitoring and fault diagnosis of conveyor speed reducer.

Abstract: This work is to present layout optimization of support structure based on ANSYS with stress constraint. Currently size, shape and topology optimization have been well studied, but layout optimization is still in the early stage and its application is limited by its massive mathematical model. In this paper the problem of numerical calculation is solved by the optimization algorithms of ANSYS and then through studying the mathematical model, sensitivity, controlling parameters and optimization criteria of it a toolkit is designed and programmed by C# language. At last, an optimization case is studied and the results show that more reasonable design prototypes can be found for engineers through using the toolkit especially in the conceptual design stage.

Abstract: Intermetallic (Cu-Sn) nanoparticles are synthesized through a borohydride reduction with NaBH4 in a mixture of aqueous solutions of CuCl2.2H2O and SnCl2.2H2O at mass ratio Cu:Sn = 3:2 applying a template technique with a support such as carbon foam. The ratio is chosen in accordance with the Cu-Sn binary system phase diagram. The reductive precipitation is carried out at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Porous nanocomposites are obtained and studied by scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM/TEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The electrochemical behavior of the synthesized Cu-Sn alloy and the C-based composites (С-foam/Cu-Sn alloy) as positive electrodes is also investigated in a Li-ion battery) using a computer controlled laboratory cycling equipment BA500 Series Battery Analyzer.

Abstract: In sterolithgraphy rapid prototyping, the support can constraint the parts deformation, and avoid a lot of problems such as collapse, shift and imbalance of the parts. It is of great importance in improving the overall efficiency of rapid prototyping technics software through enhancing the support generation efficiency. Based on this, this paper proposes a discrete-marking support algorithm for treatment of processing on manufactured part model of all Triangle-based discrete-marking on the support plane. The new mesh discrete-marking and automatic support generation algorithm has been successfully applied to the Sterolithography apparatus (SLA). Practical application indicates that the new support generation algorithm improve considerably the support technics efficiency.

Abstract: This paper is focused on the numerical simulations of tensile behaviour and capacity of headed studs for concrete structures. 2D axi-symmetric numerical models of different head diameters and effective embedment depth were carried out. The distance of the support ring varied from the 0,0hef to 3,5hef from the edge of the head of the stud. It was found that the tensile capacity of the headed stud is increasing with the reduction of the resistance area by the support. The influence of the head size on the tensile capacity was also observed. The capacity increase depended on the size of resisting area of the anchor and therefore the relationship between the real resisting area and theoretical area was proposed.
