Abstract: The results of the study of the influence of the grinding regimes and the characteristics of the diamond tool on the strength and the surface layer of the ceramic parts based on silicon nitride are presented in this article. The revealed regularities of the surface layer and defect formation have been used to develop a model of the forming of the surface layer of the ceramic parts. The proposed model will increase operational resource resistance of the ceramic parts by 10–25%.

Abstract: The micrometeorological characteristics have been analyzed based on data of the Kangding airport during Mar., May.-Jul., Sep., 2010. Due to the variability of the westerly over the airport, it was cold and dry on Mar. and rainy season started on May. when the precipitation mainly occurred during 17:00-23:00. The obviously 30-50 day intra-seasonal oscillation of precipitation at airport was closely related to the 850-hPa U-wind at the Bay of Bengal from May. to Sep.. Because of the more cloud cover, the daily rang of temperature and station pressure was reduced.

Abstract: Methods and experimental findings shown describe how mechanical parameters of the surface layer behavior and acoustic emission signals are interconnected.Experimental study was carried out under conditions of simple single-and dual stage compression. Graphic and analytic dependencies between the counting rate of the acoustic emission and the shear deformation degree Λ were revealed. The findings describing dual compression show that the acoustic emission method is sensitive to the material stressing history.The dependency of the acoustic emission signal energy on the pre-stressing program was found, which helped establish that, with values of the plasticity reserve depletion being equal for all experimental specimens, the accumulated shear deformation degree Λ was different.The findings describing the hereditable physical state of the strengthened surface layer of parts during cutting and surface plastic deformation are presented in the paper. The study was carried out using the methods of property accumulation control in deformation sites depending on treatment modes with real-time monitoring of acoustic emission signals. A peculiar feature of these methods is the use of visual recording of the metal plastic flow to be further used in calculating the hereditable parameters of the surface layer quality.

Abstract: The wind field have been analyzed based on data of auto-meteorological station on the Kangding airport during Mar., May.-Jul., Sep., 2010. Due to the variability of the westerly overhead the airport, it was cold and dry on Mar. and rainy season started on May. The downward momentum transportation directly enhanced the surface westerly wind velocity at about 14:00 in Mar. and May.. In summer, the strengthen easterly wind by head-induced circulation influenced the airport when the air temperature started to fall after sunset on sunny day. In addition, the northerly tail-wind only appeared at about 15:00 in Mar..

Abstract: Alternating surface oxide and hardened layers were fabricated by means of anodic plasma nitrocarburizing of low-carbon steel in aqueous ammonium chloride/carbamide solutions. The effect of electrolyte composition and treatment conditions on the phase characteristics, structure and properties of the surface layers was studied. The distributions of hardness, phase and structure composition of the surface layers were defined. Controllability of diffusion saturation with nitrogen and carbon by variation of electrolyte composition and treatment temperature was shown. The formation of nitrogen and carbon, which are diffusing into the steel surface at anodic plasma electrolytic nitrocarburizing was described.

Abstract: The aim of this article is to demonstrate the possibility of using burnishing rolling process as the technology of product development. The experimental researches were carried out, showing the ability to form the surface layer of the product with the desired properties. First, during different previous treatment the surfaces of the samples were prepared. Then these surfaces were burnished with constant burnishing parameters. The influence of different previous treatment on the state of the surface layer parameters are shown. Among the examined aspects is considered: surface roughness, nanoroughness, material bearing, surface microstructure, metallographic.

Abstract: Two materials with potential application in bone tissue repair have been developed: 1) a non-biodegradable composite based in a new methacrylic-co-acrylic matrix; and 2) a biodegradable composite based in a chitosan (Ch) matrix. Both matrices were reinforced with glass-ceramic particles of composition (mol%) 70 SiO2 – 30 CaO. The in vitro bioactivity of composites was assessed by soaking in simulated body fluid (SBF) for periods of up to 7 days at 37º C. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy coupled with X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) were used for deposit identification after different soaking periods. Calcium phosphate particulate deposits were detected after 3 days of immersion, followed by growth and maturation towards apatite.

Abstract: Results of surface modification of the VT-23 titanium alloy by high flux of copper ions with an energy of 2 keV and ion current density of 3.5 mA/cm2 was studied. The dependence of the microhardness and penetration depth of ion as function of duration of ion treatment was determined. Structural-phase state of ion-modified of the VT-23 titanium samples surface layer was investigated by TEM and SEM. Microhardness was researched by nanoindentation method.
