Abstract: Evaluation of fashion and product design has been one of the most prominent factors among designers and researchers. Unfortunately, they usually evaluate their design by self-report that is relatively subjective. Research using eye tracking technology has begun to lead a objective way in which where and when the participants look at. The present paper reviews some publications of eye tracking technology in fashion and product design, identifies directions for further research in this growing field.

Abstract: Less of edge and texture information existed in traditional visual attention model in target detection due to extract only the color, brightness, directional characteristics, as well as direct sum fusion rule ignoring the difference in each characteristic. A improved model is proposed by introduced the edge, texture and the weights in fusion rules in visual computing model. First of all, DOG is employed in extracting the edge information on the basis of obtained brightness feature with multi-scale pyramid using the ITTI visual computing model; the second, the non-linear classification is processing in the six parameters of the mean and standard deviation of the gray contrast, relativity and entropy based on the GLCM; finally, the fusion rule of global enhancement is employed for combination of multi-feature saliency maps. The comparison experimental results on variegated natural scene display, relative to the ITTI calculation model, there is more effective with the application of the model in this paper, the interested area and the order to shift the focus are more in line with the human visual perception, the ability of target detection is strengthening in variegated natural scene. Further shows that the proposed edge and texture features introduced in the primary visual features to be effective, the introduction of each feature significant weighting factor is reasonable in the feature map integration phase.

Abstract: Drawing on the suvey of visual attention degree and its significance in psychology and physiology , in recent years, researchers have proposed a lot of visual attention model and algorithms, such as Itti model and many saliency detection algorithms. And in recent years, the researchers applied the visual attention of this technology in a lot of directions, such as a significant regional shifts and visual tracing detection model based on network loss, for video quality evaluation. This paper summarizes the various algorithms and its application of visual attention and its significance.

Abstract: Computer vision community has long attempted to automatically detect locations in the image that are able to capture attentions of users. In recent years, more and more researchers have proposed to address this problem from the perspective of simulating human visual attention mechanisms. In this paper, we study modeling visual attention in frequency domain. Our major contributions are twofold: 1. A new method called band-divided method (BDM) is developed to generate the saliency map by integrating the amplitude spectrum with the phase spectrum. 2. A quantitative measurement according to min-distance dissimilarity (MDD) is presented to evaluate the saliency map, which is more appropriate for non-binary ground-truth data. Experiments on benchmark dataset and comparisons with traditional approaches demonstrate the promise of the proposed work.

Abstract: This paper introduces the designs on visual attention measurement system based on the visual attention theory. The measurement system simulated the traffic environment and driving conditions, to examine the reaction time and accuracy of judge response of drivers. It applies to research the top-down and bottom-up controls of visual attention in three-dimensional (3D) space. It included the setting of observation location, stimuli location, moving speed, environmental illuminance and the design of software control interface. The paper describe how the stimuli can be presented by the control system and introduce the design of variable periphery environmental illuminance and obversion targets for detect tasks in detail. The results are demonstrated that this measurement system can be used to examine the reaction time and accuracy of judgment response in three environmental illuminance conditions.

Abstract: The Context-Aware Saliency (CA) model—is a new model used for saliency detection—has strong limitations: It is very time consuming. This paper improved the shortcoming of this model namely Fast-CA and proposed a novel framework for image retrieval and image representation. The proposed framework derives from Fast-CA and multi-texton histogram. And the mechanisms of visual attention are simulated and used to detect saliency areas of an image. Furthermore, a very simple threshold method is adopted to detect the dominant saliency areas. Color, texture and edge features are further extracted to describe image content within the dominant saliency areas, and then those features are integrated into one entity as image representation, where image representation is so called the dominant saliency areas histogram (DSAH) and used for image retrieval. Experimental results indicate that our algorithm outperform multi-texton histogram (MTH) and edge histogram descriptors (EHD) on Corel dataset with 10000 natural images.

Abstract: This research aimed to reveal characteristics of visual attention of low-vision drivers. Near and far stimuli were used by means of a three-dimensional (3D) attention measurement system that simulated traffic environment. We measured the reaction time of subjects while attention shifted in three kinds of imitational peripheral environment illuminance (daylight, twilight and dawn conditions). Subjects were required to judge whether the target presented nearer than fixation point or further than it. The results showed that the peripheral environment illuminance had evident influence on the reaction time of drivers, the reaction time was slow in dawn and twilight conditions than in daylight condition, distribution of attention had the advantage in nearer space than farther space, that is, and the shifts of attention in 3D space had an anisotropy characteristic in depth. The results suggested that (1) visual attention might be operated with both precueing paradigm and stimulus controls included the depth information, (2) an anisotropy characteristic of attention shifting depend on the attention moved distance, and it showed remarkably in dawn condition than in daylight and twilight conditions.

Abstract: In order to detect visually salient regions in video sequences, a motion saliency detection method is proposed. The motion vectors of each video frame is used to get two motion saliency features. One represents the uniqueness of the motion,and the other one represents the distribution of the motion in the video scene. Then, the Gaussian filtering is conducted to combine the two feature to make the motion saliency map, in which the salient regions or objects in the video sequences could be detected. The experimental results show that the proposed method could achieve excellent saliency detection performances.

Abstract: In this paper, we propose a novel ship detection method based on multi-visual features after analyzing the characteristics of ship in the sea. According to the principal of the visual contrast, brightness and orientation saliency map of ship object are respectively generated, and then they are integrated to obtain the total saliency map. In addition to the brightness and orientation of the ship objects, the method doesn’t use other prior knowledge of them. In ship detection experiment, the experimental results prove our method can effectively concentrate on the ship objects regardless of their size and brightness, and thereby improve the capacity of visual attention in complex scene. Thus, the design idea of our method is verified.

Abstract: Evaluating the effectiveness of virtual environments as training and analysis systems one must take into account both strongly and weakly defined measures of visual behaviour and associated experience. The investigation of cross correlations between strongly defined measures of logged gaze behaviours, and weakly defined measures of subjective perceptions of visual behaviour, reveals significant discrepancies. The existence of these discrepancies casts doubt upon the effectiveness of using self-reporting questionnaires to assess training effectiveness. However, making participants aware of these discrepancies can be a potentially powerful method for increasing the effectiveness of training using virtual worlds.
