Abstract: Epoxynorbornene linseed oil (ENLO) is a new kind of epoxide from renewable sources. An UV-curable organic/inorganic hybrid films using epoxynorbornene linseed oils (ENLO) and surface treated nano-silica were formulated. The mechanical properties, thermal properties and coating properties of the ENLO /silica coatings were evaluated as the function of nano-silica content. The results indicated that after incorporating the nano-silica, the strength, modulus and glass transition temperature of the hybrid films enhanced, while the elongation at break decreased. The nano-silica also improved the hybrid coating properties such as pencil hardness, solvent resistance and surface wetting properties. The morphology observation of the films by atomic force microscopy (AFM) showed that the average silica particle size was ~ 70 nm and the particles were well-dispersed in the organic phase.

Abstract: EIS is used in this paper to study the effects of anodic oxidation parameters on the film’s ability, and multi-layer equivalent circuits are proposed. The oxidation time has great effect on porous layer, the porous layer’s impedance increases as the anodic oxidation time prolong; anodic current density has effect on both barrier layer and porous layer, higher current density gets higher impedance values in both barrier layer and porous layer; anodic oxidation temperature has great effect on barrier layer, when the temperature decreases, the barrier layer’s impedance increases.

Abstract: Lithium ion was introduced into high purity aluminum (99.999%) by hydrotalcite precursor method, and Li/Al composite anodic film was obtained by anodizing. The methods of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to investigate the properties of the anodic film. The electrochemistry behaviors of composite anodic film were studied by means of potentiodynamic method and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results showed that the composite anodic film was produced by hydrotalcite precursor method and which is amorphous to X-ray diffraction. The passivation current density of the anodic film in NaCl solution (1mol/L, pH=3, 7, 11) decreased obviously, while impedance value increased sharply. Corrosion resistance of the composite anodic film in NaCl solution was improved by the introduction of Li+ ion.

Abstract: In this paper, the aging of an epoxy adhesive which is used to aluminum- aluminum composite joints in medium was studied by infrared spectroscopy (IR), scan electronic microscope (SEM) and shear strength test. In salt water, Na+ and Cl- can accelerate hydrolyzation of the adhesive and enhance water ingress ability in the adhesive. Shear strength tests indicate that the durability of the adhesive in salt water aging is lower than that in water. IR spectroscopy and SEM of the adhesive indicates that the salt water diffusion speed in the epoxy adhesive/ aluminumaluminum composite joints depends on not only temperature but also salt water aging time, and high temperature can accelerate the degradation of the adhesive in salt water.
