Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate biocompatibility of a new injectable root canal sealer. The cytotoxicity of zinc oxide-eugenol cements, CCQ and the new injectable root canal sealer were assessed by the MTT assays. These materials were filled into the root canals of the dog. One month later, the dog was sacrificed and the X-ray photos were taken. The histological response was observed through the microscope. The results show the new injectable root canal sealer showed better biocompatibility than the other two materials.

Abstract: Biomimetic coating on roughed titanium plates were prepared in this work by a cathode deposition method in calcium phosphate solution electrolyte. The coatings of plate-like apatite crystals were deposited on the titanium plates under a constant potential of 2.0V for 60 min at 37. The coating crystals were identified to be carbonate-containing apatite (bone-like apatite) by X-ray diffraction and scanning electronic microscopy. The cell proliferation and adhesion of L929 cells on the titanium metal plates with biomimetic coating and the titanium plates with roughed-only were tested. The results showed that biomimetic coating on titanium surface can enhance the materials bioactivity. The study indicated that cathode method is potential to prepare biomimetic coating on titanium implants with excellent bioactivity.

Abstract: Good interfacial interaction is crucial for preparation of inorganic-organic materials at a nanometer level. Poly(α-methacrylic acid) (PMAA) was grafted on the PLA surfaces via photooxidization and subsequent UV induced polymerization in an attempt to synthesize nano-hydroxyapatite/poly(lactide) (n-HA/PLA) composites. Grafting of PMAA on the PLA surface was confirmed using FTIR analysis and the size distribution measurement of the grafted-PLA (g-PLA) particles. n-HA/g-PLA composites were in situ synthesized via dropwise addition of Ca2+- and g-PLA containing solution to PO4 3-- solution. The prepared composites were characterized by FTIR, XRD,SEM and TEM means. Analytical results indicated that the g-PLA acts as a template to manipulate the nucleation and growth of n-HA crystals and thereby to control the morphology, size and anisotropy of n-HA crystals and their distribution over the organic phase. Chemical linkages and/or interfacial interactions between the n-HA and the g-PLA in the n-HA/g-PLA composite were further discussed.

Abstract: The new-style injectable root canal filling material was prepared by hydroxyl apatite (HA), calcium hydroxide (Ca (OH) 2), iodoform (CHI3) and silicon oil. The material was injected into the isolate teeth to observe the sealing effect through marinating the isolate teeth in SBF and 1% methylblue solution. The practical effect of this material through clinical trials ten patients including fourteen teeth was also evaluated. After six months follow-up, patients have no any uncomfortable. This root canal filling material has good injectability, good biocompatibility, and is very convenient to manipulate. The relevant results suggest that it has good prospect of clinical application.
