Abstract: In this paper, a series of mesoporous silica particles with different pore diameters were fabricated using tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as the network precursor, hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) as a structure directing agent and 1,3,5-Trimethylbenzene (TMB) as a pore enlarge reagent. Compared with SAXRD and BET, the PALS may not only show the mesoporous information but also provide the structure information of microporous.

Abstract: We prepared a series of mesoporous silica films to study the structural information of ordered pores by positronium Time of Flight (Ps-TOF) spectroscopy. By changing the ratio of surfactant to silicon source, the pore structure is tuned. Results show that once ordered pores are formed, clear Ps TOF peak is observed. And the film with less distributed pore geometry leads to a narrowed Ps TOF peak.

Abstract: Cerium doped lutetium aluminium garnet (Lu3Al5O12:Ce, LuAG:Ce) displays particularly promising performance and has a great potential to be used in PET and SPECT. LuAG:Ce phosphors was synthesized with a simple sol-gel process. The structure was identified with XRD. Variations of luminescent properties and defects of LuAG:Ce phosphors with different heat-treatment temperatures and Ce3+-dope concentrations have been investigated, with the aid of emission spectra and positron annihilation lifetime measurements. The influence of defects on the luminescence properties was discussed.

Abstract: Well-ordered 2-dimensional (2D) hexagonal and 3-dimensional (3D) cubic mesoporous silicon oxide thin films prepared using triblock Poly(ethylene oxide)-Poly(Propylene oxide)-Poly(ethylene oxide) copolymer species (P123, F127) as the structure-directing agents, are studied by positron beam analysis in parallel with X-ray reflection measurements. It is observed that in the two films with equivalent porosity and pore size (normal to the film surface direction), the shape of mesopores considerably affects positron annihilation behavior. The narrowed positron annihilation Doppler broadening in the 2D hexagonal mesoporous film may suggest a higher positronium formation probability there, owing to a larger effective open volume area originated from the extension of pore channels parallel to the film substrate.
